Hello guys,
I have a rather important question regarding if anyone has experience with Virginia accepting CPA exam scores from New York. The reason I am asking is that some states such as Illinois will not accept CPA exam scores if the first section was passed at a time when the candidate did not meet the educational requirements of Illinois (or respective state).
Here is a quote from Illinois:
“The educational requirements of the Illinois statute were met when initially taking the first section of the exam. (If they were not, there is no way to accumulate the necessary credits for the requirements. The application will automatically be denied and NO REFUND will be issued.)”
I already passed two parts of the CPA exam in New York state under the 120 credit hour sit rule where no bachelors is required. Under Illinois the bachelor would have been required so they will not accept my NYS CPA scores.
As for Virginia I have not seen such requirement. On the Virginia state board website it just says to transfer CPA exam scores to Virginia.
Why do I want to transfer to Virginia? => I am not a US citizen and given my circumstances I will only be able to accumulate 10-11 months of work experience under a US CPA. It will be difficult to get the remaining month of experience verified by a US CPA in my home country.
Virginia helps because they accept international experience.
Anyone has experience if Virginia will accept NYS state CPA exam scores received under the 120 hour sit rule with no bachelor?
Of course, I will have my bachelor and meet the educational requirements in 2 months.
I would really appreciate your help, I do not want to retake my CPA exams I passed for a dumb reason as not meeting educational requirements at the time of taking the exam. I will have over 160 credit hours by the time of graduation.
