I’ll be taking my first exam on the 4th, what are things to be sure to do, not to do before taking the actual exam? I don’t want to mess this up over something stupid.

For instance, don’t go over the 10 minutes to read the instructions or you have to retake the exam. Don’t forget to bring the correct NTS. Don’t forget to bring two forms of ID.

Are there any other subtle rules I should know about, like the 10 minutes?

For research question, after you fill it in, it will automatically show whether the FORMAT is right or wrong right below your answer. =)

I'm pro bathroom breaks as long as you budget time for it. I took two bathroom breaks for audit because I was speeding through the testlets (four hours was more than enough for me), and even for BEC, which demanded more time than I expected, I had to take a bathroom break before the WCs just to clear my head and remove myself from the intensity of the exam room. I also agree that you should limit, or eliminate entirely, studies the day of the exam.

A good tip is to remember that there are 12 pretest questions for BEC and 15 pretest questions for audit, FAR, and REG, which don't count towards your score determination. Whenever I saw a crazy question in my exam, I always reminded myself of that and that made me feel more relaxed to attack the question without anxiety. But yeah, relaxing and trusting in your preparation is the key advice I can give.
