    Good Day, Peeps:

Hope everyone’s studies are going well. I am asking you to opine on a my current situation/feelings. My employer will being its fiscal year-end audit soon (6/30). That said, I am starting to dislike my role and management. Why? Well, process are not being implemented by the higher-ups, supervisor keeps on adding duties to my role (small department), the books are not complete, and my manager constancy forgets things and shifts blame on me whenever something goes wrong.

I have been very loyal to my employer AND did like the job for the past 3.5 years. Now, I am experiencing a diminishing marginal utility regarding how my new boss micromanages, contradict, and second guesses my recommendations and or analysis. I also feel alienated from her “clicks” that she develops with other staff members. Mid you, my performance has not decreased; hence, the added responsibilities given. I am being over-utilized and underpaid, in my humble opinion. Not sure why she had a change of heart. I have always been loyal and respectful towards ALL. Heck, I even took on others roles due to their health issues for several months.

All that being said, will it be looked down upon if I leave this role during their y/e audit? Can they (mgmt. and/or HR) bad mouth me for leaving in middle of their “busy season?” I feel it is time for me to move on, plus I want to learn more other that not-for-profit accounting. I year for working in corporate.

FYI, I have not told this to anyone a work; I am a private person and keep it professional.

I thank you for your time!

Most employers will only confirm dates employed and title. By law they can say anything they can prove is truthful (sure they COULD say you left during year end and leave the potential new employer to draw their own conclusions) but to cover themselves and avoid litigation they are unlikely to say more than dates and title.

I always say Employers are not concerned with laying off people if the timing is bad for the employee (ie new house, new kid….) so you shouldn't concern yourself with their busy season. Also ppl, even lowly staff, tend to overvalue their own importance and think the walls will come crashing down if the leave, but they won't ;).

Start applying for other jobs and leave once you have a better one in hand. People understand moving into a better job, even if you left your prior employer during busy season.

You don't owe your employer anything.

You work for the money they pay you, it's not free.

Also, opportunities don't wait around for you, if you find it, take it. After all its YOUR career, do what's best for YOU.
