I have never used Becker, but upon doing a Google for Tim's name I came across a bunch of Memes. My favorite had a nerdy kid and it said, ‘Follows Peter Olinto's instructions…cancels only date ever. Got to do Becker CPA review on a Friday night.'

His habit of saying “highlight” and “again” so often not only annoyed me, but it made the lesson less effective. His lessons are littered with the interruptions, impeding on your ability to absorb important information. It's like getting a burger and having to take off the pickles you don't like: you go out of you way to take them out, but it still tastes different than if they weren't there in the first place.

I agree with go2134. His overuse of “again”… particular when it's something he's saying for the very first time… drives me nuts. Also, his “explanation” videos for the classroom problems are a complete waste of time. Simply reading the question and the answer does not explain anything.

I actually liked Mike Brown a lot…He wasn't the most exciting but he explained things clearly.

Everyone had their own personalities, except Angie Brown (BEC), she was just like a brick wall.

Yes, Tim could be annoying (with his ‘Again' verbal tic)…but the fact of the matter is that I was able to pass every exam on the first try with Becker and months later, I still remember ‘CAR IN BIG' (as does my husband, who unfortunately ended up listening to my lectures SEVERAL times) 🙂

Love Tim and Pete in both FAR and REG, not so much for Mr. or Mrs. Brown in BEC. They seem really intelligent, and probably know this stuff like the back of their hands, but it was torture.

Maybe Devry can buy out Ninja, and Jeff can start teaching BEC for them. They need the ninja MCQ and his personality, lol.

I like Tim Gearty. I think he is the best one among all the Becker instructors. I am glad he teaches the most in FAR. Pete is just okay. Don't like Ms. and Mr. Brown, they may be knowledgeable but they just don't know how to teach.

His lectures are bad. I usually have to pause the lecture and just read the outline myself cuz his lectures are not helpful and the only word I hear is highlight! A good lecture is a lecture you could easily understand with your eyes close but for his lecture if I don't fall the outline, it's useless. I usually get so frustrated with Becker for wasting my time with his lectures.

Becker's book is excellent. It's comprehensive and well-thought of. One of the key authors is Tim Gearty. Becker's powerhouse authors (including Peter O, Angie, and Mike Brown) did a great job coming up with their CPA materials.
But it's about time, Tim G. should retire.
Highlighting and marking arrows up and down, left and right is a total waste of time.

Not bad. Enjoyed both Tim and Olinto's jokes. But I Liked Olinto a lot more. Mike Brown I liked More than Tim (Idk why many people seem to disagree). Angie Brown made me fall asleep.

I thought he was great for REG, he definitely knew how to explain complex topics into simple terms. He's both a lawyer and a CPA, so it makes sense he's good for this section.

I enjoyed this thread thoroughly ,I am convinced I am not alone in this world who couldn't follow his too long sentences and only thing I remember about Tim is highlight up down left and right.LOL
