First off thanks to everyone on this forum for all the inspiration up to this point. But i am at the end of my rope after 5 fails in a row. I am 30 years old and started this cpa journey 2.5 years ago. After i graduated with a marketing degree i went straight into sells because i have an unbelievable knack for connecting with people. I decided to go back and get an accounting degree and try out the accounting thing for a while after my employer in the sales role was treating me unfairly. I thought i would get the cpa and work for myself. But where i work now they pay me peanuts compared to what i was making in sales and now i am faced with going back into a sales role or keep on the cpa track. Ive put to much time with no reward. I have a guy that is begging me to come work for him and be a commercial accounts manager and manage 3 of his locations with uncapped income potential. And quite frankly im tired of sitting in this dungeon (office with no windows). haha What do you guys think i should do?

Honestly, I think that it depends on what you really want to do in life. If working for yourself as a CPA would be rewarding for you and would make you happy, then you need to keep at it. If you do not feel like the CPA designation is that critical to what would make you happy, then go the other route. Once you determine what you really want, then determine what your why is for really wanting to complete the CPA. Make that your focus, dig in deep and give it all you got. I personally have only passed 1 part of the exam (subsequently lost it) and failed 12 different times, most between 71 and 74. You can definitely do it, if you want it bad enough.

I do not want to work in private, but for me I have made it personal for me to obtain this license. If for nothing else, I will have learned discipline and can show my kids what it looks like to never quit on your dreams and aspirations.
