I’m waiting on my 3rd FAR score release (71 and 69), and this time I feel like I did even worse than the first two. I passed the other 3 sections the first time but for some reason FAR is my kryptonite. Has anyone felt they completely blew it on FAR and came out with a pass? Need some optimism while waiting for Tuesday.

    Hey there,

When I took FAR I was pretty confident that I had failed. I felt okay until I got to the sims and I had no idea what they were asking for and did not feel confident on any of the sims. When I left I was so depressed because I knew I had failed. I had spent so much time preparing and felt all had gone to waste! Come score release day I did not want to check my score (I had to take BEC the next day), however to my surprise I had passed with an 81 and scored “comparable” on the sims!

    Best of luck on Tuesday!

    FAR - 81 5/15
    BEC - 85 5/15
    REG - 83 7/15
    AUD - 89 8/15

@HWH did you have enough time for the Sims? My exam experience was similar to yours except that i didn't have enough time for sims and had to run through them quickly just to complete them. I Feel I did well on multiple choice and I'm trying to gauge if I have a chance of passing.

    @DK100 @HWH

I had the same situation on my test. Not enough time on the sims. I rushed through them quickly and wasn't able to even answer the research sim. Last section to pass and I am tired of studying. Praying for a miracle tomorrow

    AUD 86

    BEC 77

    REG 79

With AUD, I definitely felt my testlets get harder. With FAR, I did not. Furthermore, with FAR, I got a few SIMs that I had no clue how to answer. I luckily had a lot of time to research and was able to follow the math and apply it to my problem, but very little time to review and no idea if I did it right or not. I was feeling pretty pessimistic about my score and somehow managed an 87. Good luck to you.

@coloradorit @Mika My 1st 3 testlets were the same. 1st testlet was the easiest i had seen in any of the 4 exams and i know i did well on them yet the 2nd and 3rd testlets didn't seem to difficult. Sims on the other other hand were a disaster. Praying for a 75 so I can be done with this!

    @DK @Sbirge

I think I had allocated a little more than 60 minutes for the sims, but most of the time I was sitting there and thinking, “what the heck is going on?” and subsequently rushed through all of them…

    FAR - 81 5/15
    BEC - 85 5/15
    REG - 83 7/15
    AUD - 89 8/15

@HWH that give me hope! I had about 65 minutes for SIMS and started with the research which was the hardest I had ever seen and spent almost 15 min on it but finally found it. The Sims were very wordy and provided a lot of facts and data and I just ran through them, filling out the last one with 2 minutes to go without really reading it.

    Hang in there OP!

When I took FAR a few months ago I walked out of the exam feeling like if I got above a 55 it would be a bigger miracle than the 1980 winter Olympics.

I told everyone I knew that I had completely bombed it and I was just miserable for the 5 weeks I had to wait for my test results. If someone had pointed a gun to my head and asked me “Did you pass FAR?” I would have said “no” without even a second thought.

The fact that I got a 82 on it still blows me away and I still believe that the computers messed up my grading haha

I guess what I'm trying to say, is that unless you leave answers blank you truly do not know how well you did until you get your actual score.

In the same boat. Feel like I did pretty well on the multiple choice but the SIMS killed me. Felt like I needed at least another half hour. Left feeling terrible.

This hopefully will be the last exam for me, otherwise I'll lose BEC.

I passed BEC first with an 88…studied a lot though, but the test itself seemed very different than the Becker course.

Passed AUD with an 86. Didn't feel prepared for the test but got through it fine.

Passed REG with an 84, which was the surprise of a lifetime. I felt as though I studied a lot but just wasn't getting a few of the topics. I left that exam confident that I bombed.

I took FAR on 5/29. This wait for results has been absolute torture. I was pretty terrified checking my score for REG, but now, knowing that this could all be over…I literally cannot stop thinking about anything else.

Good luck to everyone though. Hopefully tomorrow will be a happy day.

Bec-77 1x being in the bubble is stressful
Reg-82 4x its not me its you...and no we cant be friends

YesYesYes to answer your question. I recently passed Far with an 84. I couldn't tell you how the hell that happened. I honestly though I scored in the mid 70's at best. I knew I bombed 2 of the Sims. And I can't tell you how many others have felt the exact same way and passed. Countless…

The first time I took Far I only completed half of the Sims. Answered 0 on literally half of the sims, and still scored a 73. So you should always have hope. The CPA exam is nasty because how it is graded is so unknown. My biggest piece of advice for any CPA candidates is always leave time for Sims so you can answer them. Leaving Sims unanswered may be the cardinal sin of the exam.

    Reg - 85 11/06/14
    Aud - 89 11/24/15
    Bec - 76 12/10/14
    Far - 84 05/27/15
