Background: been seriously job searching since August so I can relocate to the Northeast to be with my boyfriend (I’m not looking for any relocation assistance. I also keep coming up in second place 🙁
I’ve noticed a few things around the industry tax jobs I have applied and interviewed for.
1. everyone has a MST!… where I got my undergrad from in the midwest is a top rated MBA school who just launched their MST program in 2012.
2. every place has mentioned the crazy work hours (Jan-Feb = “busy season” for industry tax) but to compensate, the COMPANY (not just the tax dept) gets 1/2 Fridays in the summer or every other Friday off in the summer… companies here in the Midwest just don’t do that.
Just things I’ve noticed, I didn’t realize it would be that different.
