I’m late to the party because ive spent the last 3-4 months studying for FAR. Anyone see it? What did you think of it? I just started the book and im pretty hooked.

Man finance is a whole new world. I was barely able to get the general gist of how all the shorting worked.

I found “Margot Robbie explaining derivatives from a bathtub” sorta amusing. She needs to create her own CPA review course and lecture from that tub.

An awesome flick. It was over 2 hours, and I was glued to the screen the whole time. Go see it in a theatre if you can, you won't be disappointed.

the movie was good. i thought they should have stopped and explained the final events when the investment banks would not payoff the derivatives until they got the bailout – another explanation from the bathtub or the blackjack table could have made all that dirty dealing clearer.
michael lewis wrote articles for vanity fair during the events that led to the book that were very good. one about the doctor who researched all the loans and shorted the banks that was fascinating at the time. seeing how it all played out in the movie was very interesting.
he wrote a movie a few years back for hbo that covered the lehman failure, the end of wachovia and countrywide, and the paulson role in the bailout that i felt was way too sympathetic to the big banks.

Thanks for starting this thread, it has me interested in the book/movie and other things people have posted about.

monikernc.. that HBO movie, are you talking about Too Big to Fail? I saw that and I loved it but felt it was a little short or didn't give me enough detail.

It was too big to fail and andrew sorkin wrote it not michael lewis. It painted paulson as a god rather than one of the architects of the collapse.
