At my last internship, I ran into an issue with the other interns. I thought the loud banter, especially the topics discussed, was unprofessional, but it was easy to ignore. However, it escalated into no one doing their work, thus me having to share the workload of my teammate.

The other female intern started talking excessively about her sex life, too, including her desire to sleep with her boss. She even scrunched up her skirt one day and said she wanted to take the one guy in our office in the back room. Of course, the other interns thought it was funny. Now, maybe it’s socially accepted among young people to act like that or I’m just a prude, but I couldn’t take it. After they wouldn’t stop, I went to one of the Seniors that I was work buddies with and asked about getting moved. He said he knew about what was going on, but didn’t want to be involved in an HR issue and told my supervisor.

Needless to say, my internship ended and my resume keeps getting denied for full-time positions (three of the other interns, including the girl, were offered FT positions, btw). I honestly think I’ve been blacklisted from the company for complaining and that maybe I should’ve tried a couple more months to ignore the other interns.

Anyone want to share a bad co-worker story and how you handled it without looking like a complainer?
