I have a job that gives decent vacation and am left with 40 hours that will roll into next year. I can accumulate up to 200 hours. So do you use all your vacation or do you let it accumulate.

Giving up is not an option.

I take my vacation as it is part of total compensation. Only when you move to a job where the PTO policy sucks do you really miss it. My last job gave me 12 days vacation/sick total which is miserable.

There are a couple of people around my current job who do not really use vacation and complain about it but it is their fault for not using it. It is shown that it improves an employees work quality and personally, I find that the people who cannot take vacation are usually inefficient at their jobs. Personal observation though…

I use it when I need it or have plans. I currently have about 80 hours. Use it as things come up or just take a day here and there.

I'd save it if you don't have any plans right now.

I would treat it the same as people should treat money in their savings. If you want or need a vacation use it, but don't just use it to use it.
