How difficult is it to switch industries? I have been an accountant (middle management) in the banking industry for several years now, and I am contemplating applying for a CFO position at a smaller hospital. Would they even consider me without healthcare experience? Job posting states healthcare experience preferred, but I meet the MBA and CPA and other requirements. Just curious for thoughts as I am looking for a new challenge and banking CFO positions in my area are limited.

It really depends on who else applies. If they get resumes with similar credentials AND healthcare experience those are who they're going to pursue first. It can't hurt to go for it but with no expectations one way or the other.
