yy612ParticipantHow do you deal with this loneliness if you have no one around you who is studying for CPA? How do you keep motivated by yourself?

monikerncParticipantmy dog has kept me company. this forum is also very helpful because it is always here and all of us are dealing with the same things. studying is a solitary pursuit. be motivated by your goal of passing and getting licensed. i like doing this because it feels good to be working something that is measurable and recognized. the more time you put into it now the sooner you will be able to spend the time with family and friends. i also set up my schedule to take a break on friday nights except in the last two weeks of review. setup a schedule that allows for an evening with people or doing something else you enjoy. good luck and reach out rather than feel alone.

AnonymousInactiveDon't let yourself dwell on the fact that you're studying alone. Don't let it be an issue. I'm a firm believer that things like this are only issues if we allow them to be. I studied “alone”. I did my accounting courses online, so never had people to study with for my accounting courses in undergrad, let alone for my CPA exams. The fact that I was doing them alone was never an issue cause I never allowed it to.
Just study when you study, and socialize when you socialize, and don't expect the two to mix. Have your motivation be that you're becoming a CPA, now that you're studying as much as/more than so-and-so.
Since I've always studied alone, I'm not sure what the motivations would be when studying with someone else, but can tell you that when studying alone, the motivation is getting the passing score, becoming a CPA, and the biggest one for me was being DONE with mandatory studying forever. For me, getting the CPA was on my “mandatory” list, and once I got that, I was done. After that was “optionals” – MBA, CMA, maybe even a doctorate someday…but CPA was the last “mandatory”. Now I've dropped CMA off the list, but have decided I really want an MBA someday, but it's still not a “must happen immediately mandatory”, so I'm still enjoying that mandatory studying is done. 🙂

monikerncParticipantThank you eesti. It felt strange to see a pass but good. BEC is so odd. You picked a good thread to reach out. I hope the @OP can see that none of us are alone here. I wish you the best with FAR. We are so close to the end!!!

NessieParticipantPersonally, I am commuting from another state for the next few months, just so I can study without distraction. Being alone is my preferred way to study. You can always check this forum if you are getting lonely-we are all here to support you 612. My doggie is with me too 🙂 Pets are the best.
And congrats to all who wrote in Q1! And, now I commence F2…..Give me strength….

jessica8926ParticipantIf you can try studying at a starbucks or library or something where there are people. I found starbucks to be such a great place for me! I was focused but when I wanted a break I could look around see people listen to their conversations get a coffee and just feel like I was not “alone”. The hussle and bussle that happened around me made me feel like I was still in this world and not my own little CPA bubble haha

AnonymousInactiveI had to leave my house everyday to study, to get away from my two young children and wife whom i love dearly but are the source of endless distractions. It took me 2 years start to finish. Countless hours inside coffee shops and libraries. Its been 3 months since I passed the last exam. Having the CPA really sets you apart, I can not describe the differences and benefits of having it versus not having it. In the two months since being licensed I can rattle off a dozen specific things that have happened all because I am licensed.
That being said, being alone studying hurt. I am still thawing out and integrating back into family life. Like anything worth having, it takes work. I do not see any way around paying a price to do this. Hang in there.

StilgoinParticipant@l3rittany75 Nope. You are definitely not alone. Very AWKWARDDD. I keep hoping it will be someone different, but it’s always the same ones, judging me and wondering why I can’t just pass already like other people. Hahaha
