Does anyone type all of their notes?
My handwriting is a mess…and I have trouble organizing them. I know Jeff suggests to rewrite them eventually so that they make more sense, which is a great idea. Does anyone type them out and organize from the start?

The times I used notes, I typed them all out in Google docs for easy access from anywhere, and I don't think it made a difference that I didn't hand write them. That said, I didn't take any notes on my last two exams and found it to save a bunch of time going through the material on the first pass. I liked getting through the material and into the MCQ as quickly as possible, but different strokes for different folks.

I didn't type them out in Word. But I used Excel.

The advantage is how you can show important JEs or write a rule in a sentence, then elaborate further using arrows.

This also requires short statements So, the exercise of having to concisely describe the concepts only helped me better understand what I was studying.

It helped me. But I understand that other people don't benefit from note taking.

If you do decide to take written and/or typed notes, make sure it isn't just for the sake of memorizing it. Use it as a tool to explain text or solutions to problems you didn't quite understand. Highlight aspects you didn't understand fully.

The goal, whichever method you chose, is to increase your knowledge base.

Sounds like a good idea…I can see myself creating lots of worksheets and labelling them according to topic. Thanks alot.

Most educational research suggests that handwritten is better for memory, but using a word processor is better for creativity/overall writing strength.
