Starting Over… Help please!

After failing AUD in January, I took a break but not because of failing but because we were expecting our first child. Long story short, I couldn’t devote my time and energy. Now with our little one here and healthy, I need to jump back in. I could use some advice though – Should I start all over with AUD? Start where I left off? Start studying for FAR instead (failed that one too before switching to AUD)?

    Thanks for your advise!

First of all, congrats on the baby!! Now, you've heard the exam is changing in April, right? It's supposed to be getting harder, and REG and BEC are changing the most (4 hours instead of 3, and BEC is going to have sims in addition to the writing portion). My recommendation would be to take BEC first, then try to fit REG in before April if you can. I'd get those out of the way then just start from scratch with FAR and AUD. First and foremost, though, I would try to pass BEC before April.

    Hope that helps!

I agree with Allie. Get BEC, then REG out of the way before the changes in Q2-2017. I heard the same advice from several CPA exam lecturers.

    Good luck!

I generally agree, but I would start with REG. Less material to cover when returning to the hell that is the CPA exam…

Thanks everyone! I do know about the changes but I honestly didn't think about starting either BEC or REG. Makes sense given the drastic changes especially with BEC. Wish me luck because here I go!!!

@CPA2be, nice name ;)….I agree with the others, knock out BEC and REG before they change because those will be a b*tch in 2017! But if you do decide to stick with AUD, definitely start from scratch, especially if you haven't gone at it since January. No matter how much time goes by, one week or one year, I'd always recommend starting from scratch when retaking an exam. Congrats on the baby and good luck!

    FAR - 80
    AUD - 82
    BEC - 80
    REG - 85
