Anybody who does auditing here knows how to code? I’m debating whether to learn SQL or VBA after my CPA.

If you’re utilizjng either language already on your job. What are some examples? Thank you

I was a consultant within Risk Advisory (recently started my own thing) and learned some VBA during my free time.

I enjoyed it because it got me into process improvement / automation, which I found I really enjoy. I know firms covet accountants with SQL knowledge, so I think it just depends where your interests / professional aspirations are when it comes to deciding which to learn.

I don't do a whole lot of auditing but I would say VBA is going to be more broadly applicable. Everyone and their mother in the accounting field uses excel so I find VBA to always be helpful in automating what I repetitively do.
