    Hi,

I have about 4+ years of experience – 2 in public (small local firm) and 2 years in corporate (revenue dept). My project ended in early December and I now got an offer with good pay and benefits from a very small family-owned investment firm – (8 people, Quickbooks). I am getting offers still looking for a better opportunity in a large co. but nothing beats the pay. I have only this offer in hand for now but I’m not sure how exciting the work will be.

I am not able to decide if I should go with
    1. less pay+public company (contract) OR
    2. more pay + small firm (full time)

Help me in deciding please. Got my license in 2016.

There is probably not much room for advancement at the small firm unless someone is nearing retirement age or death.
The public job offers no guarantee, but if you are a hard worker and bust your ass, it could lead to full time with lots of room for advancement.

Tough call. How is your work ethic, and in your opinion why were you not brought on full time after your last project was completed? No room or no need for you anymore?

@159357 My two-cents is that a big (and perhaps recognizable name) company is a good resume builder – though you may not move up in the ranks quickly. A small (and less recognizable company) could bear opportunity for more responsibility and “voice” in the company over-all. I have worked for a huge corporation, a mid-size accounting firm, and now a 24-employee company (corporate). My current employment has the best pay and the best resume-building position (Assistant Controller with a Controller track). People don't recognize the company name, and there are some office politics and gossip that come with the small office, but it's very rewarding to me and my career.

Just think about what your long-term goals are, and what position/place will best help you get to that point. I wish you luck in making the best decision for you!
