I have this friend, he has always wanted to gain public accounting experience but was never able to land it despite being a CPA (from private experience) and pursuing MBA.
He is currently working in a Controllers organization withing a fortune 100 company. He recently accepted an internal position position as a Senior Financial Analyst. He also received an invitation for a interview for a entry-level auditor at a mid-size accounting firm weeks after having applied (about 100 partner and 700 professionals).
Do you think it’s worth it for him to go into the interview and/or accept the public accounting offer at this point? He is around $70-90K range presently.
Another idea he was toying with was to leverage his MBA to get into big 4 advisory down the line.
What do you folks think?
