Hello all. I am finished with the Fall recruiting for public accounting firms. I have gotten several second round interviews and needed some opinion on what my chances are for one particular firm that I am very interested in.
I have been analyzing a response to one of my thank you emails from a partner at that particular firm. It sounded very positive. He wrote the following response to my email (noted below). I have been analyzing the “I look forward to connecting in the future” part. The partner wrote a similar email response to my thank you email after a recruiting event as well. In that one he wrote, ” I look forward to seeing you at future events” and I ended up getting an initial/campus interview. I was told that the partner had told a staff to put my name on the list. Before I never scrutinized the emails but with this specific partner, he seems to mean what he says. Does the response below sound positive or should I not look too much into it?
Response after a thank you email to a partner:
“Thank you for the follow up message. I am pleased to hear that the interview and tour went well. Best of luck in the process. I look forward to connecting in the future.”I have to mention that the partner who responded never once interviewed me. I only met him at a recruiting event. The campus interview was conducted by a different partner. The second interview was with two senior managers and one senior associate. I received a very positive email response from one of the sr. managers and one generic/neutral response from the other sr. manager. My question is, should I not read too much into the response or is there reason to believe that the outcome may be positive. I felt good about the in-house interviews and the after interview dinner with two associates. I asked a lot of thoughtful questions and was polite. I also smiled a lot. The week I interviewed there were 19 slots with a mix of full time and intern candidates. I heard from someone that next week they will be conducting more interviews with 6-7 slots. That is a total of approximately 25 to 26 slots with a mix of FT & interns. I was told that they hired approximately 19 full time last year and they are expanding so they just added an extra floor which looks really new. I am hoping, I was good enough but it is difficult to tell. I know that the chances are higher in the second round – approx 75%, but there is no telling because anything is possible.
Any advice would be great. I have to wait one more week to get my results but I would like to know if there is hope or not.
