Just wanted to know how much information from college (including graduate school) do you all remember and how it applies to your everyday life at work? Just sitting here looking at my collection of 26 textbooks and counting from previous undergraduate courses and imagining how much of this mess I even remember.

One day I will face that exam.

I think college is essential in that it gives you a good base of knowledge and teaches you work ethic. You'll pick up on things quicker. But you learn almost everything on the job. I remember coming out of college and starting in this small business, and I felt like I had been thrown to the wolves lol

College builds a core knowledge of accountancy, and shows competency. You are not expected to retain everything.

Correct – most people will remember the baseline and the fundamental, but until they get real-life experience they won't remember the details.

I felt so stupid my first real GL accounting job. After college I did a lot of internal audit. Then I switched to a Staff Accountant position and felt like I didn't know anything. I used Google and asking my boss tons of questions to get through the 1st uear. I have been at that job for 9 years now and am the Controller. You will get it.

    FAR - 08/30/15 - 90
    AUD - 11/12/15 - 92
    REG - 01/19/16 - 82
    BEC - 02/29/16 - 83

Passed all on 1st attempt using GLEIM (full program) and NINJA (MCQ only)!!!

Are you kidding me. Going to college was a great way to learn about accounting.

    Such as:

    1. What amount of college debt is current liabilities and which is noncurrent.

    2. Preparing am operating budget to detemine how many packages of Ramen I would need for the month end.

    3. Calculating repairs and maintenance expense for the car.

    4. Going out on a date expenses is a Sunk Cost whether she asks you into her dorm room or not.

    5. Reconciling your check book balance with the bank checking balance.
