    Hi all,
I already scheduled BEC on 10/10 in NY but I just got a job offer in TX and the start date is 10/7. So I will need to move to TX by 10/7. Can I sit for the test in TX ? Are there any advice for my situation ( try to take the test by 10/7 or take it after 10/10 ? I would imagine that moving in 3 weeks will make me busy and hardly to focus on studying) ? Do I just need to go to the Prometric site and reschedule the test date / location or I must cancel my last schedule ? It’s my first time reschedule an exam.
    Thanks

If you reschedule you have to pay $35 fee since it's been less than 30 days. If you already paid for exams in your state you need to take the exams there, otherwise you have to pay exam fees again. 🙁

You can always take it earlier, that's your best best right now, even if you don't think you'll pass you're going to lose the money anyway.

I think you can take it in Texas. You'll have to pay $35 though. Becoming a Texas CPA is another story. They have a lot more requirements than New York, like you need a whole bunch of upper division accounting courses.

I'm fairly certain you can reschedule and take the exam at a Prometric in Texas, though I would call to make sure. I've sat with people from Milwaukee testing in Illinois because it was the closest one with an open test slot that fit their schedule. I'm not sure how a change to a Texas address would figure in, but I guarantee there are New York-licensed CPAs who were living in New Jersey when they went through the examination process.

Either way, your exam score would apply only to New York, since that is the state you went through for your NTS.

You should be able to reschedule and take the test in Texas after you move, if you think that's better than rescheduling to take it early in NY.

Transferring your candidacy to TX may be problematic. However, if NY doesn't have a residency requirement, it may be easiest to stick with them, and physically sit for the exams in TX with a NY-approved NTS.

Thank everyone for your advices. I rescheduled BEC on 10/4 before I move to TX because I will have 2 weeks training and can't sit for the exam by 10/20.
    1. On a different note, what are your advices for me to prepare for BEC in 15 days (about 40 -50 hours study ) ? I already studied about 60 hours ( covered Corporate Governance, IT, Economics,…) I have about 1.5 chapters left : Becker chapter 2 & 3.
    2. Is it doable to study and review in 15 days ? I'm a little slow with computation (cost accounting, finance).
    3. Are there any sections that I need to focus on more ?
    Really appreciate any advice.
