    so i started studying for REG with becker not too long ago with a positive attitude and am pretty confident with R1 and R2. That being said, i finished going through R3 and my mind is blown away. I am not exaggerating when I say i dont understand 90% of the material from this section. C Corp AMTs, adjustments/preferences/exemptions, E+P, WTF?!?!?! I knew tax would be tough for me because of my experiences in undergrad, but for those of you who are also not strong with tax..any advice? i feel like becker doesnt explain the stuff that i actually really struggle with or provide enough examples.

    Hop on over to the REG thread, they're pretty helpful. Also, if there's anything I don't understand I google it. Usually there's a youtube video or SOMETHING that explains it a little better than Becker.

    I did not like the Becker book for REG at all. I found Wiley to be much more understandable. I'm sure you don't want to buy another book so my best advice is to keep going over each topic over and over until you understand it. When you start working MCQ your understanding should increase. Do you have another test bank or just Becker? I agree wholeheartedly with Gabe's comments. The REG thread for Q4 helped me out tremendously and I googled for things I didn't understand as well. It helps to see things from different perspectives.

    Read the material once, do the MCQs, learn through MCQs (I know I keep repeating this as the advice for everything, I even feel like I'm boardline preachy)…. I'm studying REG too and doing the problems and reading the explanations puts these theories to at least something somewhat practical. So you can SEE, rather than blindly trying to memorize what they're trying to say.

    Good luck!

    You're gonna feel this way for R3 and R4, then it gets better for R5, then R6-R8 is gonna kick your ass unless you're good with BLaw.

    @gabe…thanks i totally forgot about google haha

    @mama…im gonna head over to the library and see what they have available. i know i used wiley for bec and it was somewhat helpful.

    @s2sylvir…not the best news i wanted to hear, but at least there are other people who thought the same thing with me regarding R3.

    Im just nervous that im trying to prepare all of this material by Feb 6 because my NTS expires on the 10th.

    Oops, haha. Well R4 is partnerships and that's just so much more complicated than corporations in my opinion : Maybe you'll get it quickly!

    I'm also a visual learner, which is why Blaw is so hard for me. I struggle so much with word problems, but have no problem with the calculation parts. If word problems are your thing, then you should like blaw :3!

    I'm the same way @s2, but once I stopped and actually read through the entire Blaw MCQs I could usually pick the right answer. Before, I would see a paragraph long question and just pick an answer. Not a good idea 🙂 Good luck to you on the 17th!

    ok halfway done with R4 so probably will be done with half the sections by tomorrow. This is so much more information than BEC its not even funny. Feeling stressed that I am purposely rushing my studying bc I am taking the test in about 3.5 weeks. R3 is crazy and R4 is also really crazy.

    The NTS rule is unhelpful. They should just rid of it.

    Don't limit yourself to the confines of your study material. If you don't understand something, go outside the material (Google, Youtube, etc.) and find a tutorial/explanation that can help you understand a little better. This is what I have did constantly across all 4 sections….

    @Gabe

    Thank you! I'm going to take Mamabear's advice and just do the MCQs only… Yes… I have not touched BLaw yet LOL! But I'm pretty comfortable with everything from R1-R5, and R6-8 is only supposed to be 17%….
