I’ve just started studying for REG, I plan on sitting for the exam in the second week of October. As I have just started studying I’m only through the first few sections. In one section tax return due dates are discussed and, as I work in tax (I’m also an Enrolled Agent), I noticed that all the due dates were wrong as they have changed for 2016 and will again for 2017. I’ve looked into the AICPAs policy and it appears that for tax law updates they are only tested 6 months after they are enacted, which for 2017 tax law should be in the next window right?
Anyway, I’m not really worried about due dates, I know them, I know the changes and I doubt that would be an exam priority. But, I am worried that as I go through my review course that other topics will be wrong or have changed and I won’t notice. Has anyone had issues with this before? Does the AICPA publish a list of changes and when they will be effective for the exam (I found this for AUD and FAR but nothing for REG)?
Thanks!
