There are so many tiny details in tax, on the released questions it seems that the tax questions are aimed at the big tax sections (real estate) rather than tiny details like some kid tax exemption and mixed with 9 different credits (wiley questions) etc…can any exam takers confirm? I take the exam 5/28 and am wondering if I should keep reinforcing the big picture or spend the time being meticulous on smaller areas.

I am in the same boat like you..My test is on 29th morning. This exam is driving me nuts..Don't know what to study and what not..I am trying to rehit Tax section as everyone saying that it's heavily tested. But super nervous..Crying every now and than looking at the portion and book.

@Jeff in one of his most recent Podcast addressed this indirectly. He was asked if the NINJA materials were going to have the updated amounts for 2015 REG before the July testing period.

He made a great comment that I agree with. The MCQs for the most part test the conceptual knowledge about taxable items. To me that means a question could ask “Is there a Section 179 deduction” and not “What is the section 179 deduction.”

A SIM might ask you what the specific amounts are, but you have the most recent AL at your disposal to look it up.

To sum it up, it sounds like you're on the correct path knowing about all the different deductions and limits, but I wouldn't be overly concerned about memorizing every specific dollar amount in my opinion.

    Good Luck!

    FAR - 91
    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88
