I am thinking that CPA exam for me is hitting me hard or making me realize that i am not that smarter in accounting that i thought of myself.Anyone feel as me?

You passed FAR!! This exam isn't about intelligence. A friend of mine has a lower GPA than I did in college and passed FAR on first try. I failed 2x. That does not mean he is smarter than me.. just that he studied more effectively than I did. Im not saying she isn't smart either.

But if you study u will pass as Roger says.

For me, the exam was a major reality check. I'd never had to study much through school, and thought I could carry that into this exam. After I failed my first section, I had to reevaluate whether I really wanted to become a CPA and what I would need to do to make it happen. That process helped me to re-prioritize a lot of my life and the result is a much more fulfilling post-CPA-exam life. I believe that anyone can pass this exam if they truly apply themselves and study effectively. Obviously there are people who just ‘get it' and won't need to put in as much effort.

It is all about studying
My GPA is 2.52 from a university in the middle east and you can say that i never studied before cpa exam.
But when you want something hard you will put all your efforts on it.

95% of all candidates get a Reality Check from the CPA Exam. I thought as long as I put in 300 hours of studying I would pass with no problem – yea right. I passed FAR on my first attempt with about 250 hours of study. Now, I have failed AUD twice with a 71 and 73. BEC is next up for me. Praying for a pass! Keep your head up, this exam puts nearly everyone in their place! And, don't believe everything you read about candidates lying saying how “easy” the exam is or how they passed without studying. Goodluck!

Its not about who is an accounting genious or not. It is about dedication and studying. Its about who is willing to fit in at least 3-4 hours of studying on each weekday and 6+ hrs on the weekends. I know plenty of extremely smart accountants who didn't pass bc they just wouldn't put in time/effort. You just have to want it bad enough.

This exam puts people in their place because the way/method the AICPA asks the questions. They are tricky and try to confuse you. The roger CPA questions and most of the wiley questions make sense and I typically do well on those.

It is humiliating telling people (esp spouse and parents) about failures. It is demoralizing and makes one wonder if this is really for me. I have had those moments at prometric asking myself “should I really be doing this” However, I will keep pushing til I pass

I've always felt those people that score in the 90's are probably wasting their talents on being a lowly accountant/CPA. If you can pass these tests with those kinds of scores you could easily do something that is more prestigious than being a CPA.

This test is really about testing those that can learn / test well. My friend in college was valedictorian for accounting and took multiple attempts to pass the CPA exam while I have another friend that can barely tie his shoe laces yet passed with ease. My valedictorian friend could run circles around my other when in comes to accounting topics and rules/theories yet couldn't pass the CPA as easily…

Adding to Trele points—Time is also a key. If studying was all I did I would pass all 4 in 6 months. Managing public acct, wife, and kids takes a lot of time away from studying. Wow I would score high too if all I did was study 40 hours a week like a job

I don't really agree that the purpose of the wording of the questions is to confuse people, I think it's more to ensure that those who get the correct response can interpret the GAAP and IRS terminology and ‘legalese' that's common to working in this field. Just my opinion, though.
