Hi guys, I am taking my REG exam in a few weeks and I haven’t done the Business Law section yet due to busy season. Which Business Law chapters would you say are the MOST important to know on Exam Day and where should I focus my energy on? There is a lot of Law material, and I’m afraid I might not get through all of it. But, I just wanted to know what is the absolute must law topics I must know on exam day?

    Thanks.

That is the sucky thing about REG, i.e. the business law component covers a huge swath of possible material yet the subject only accounts for a small amount of your multiple choice. You could get questions from any area. IMO there is no corner cutting with the business law part. I studied all the business law material and just got through by the skin of my teeth. The questions came from all across the business law material….

@ Charlie – Yes, that is so true. Business law covers only a small portion of the Content Specification Outline, yet, there is so much information. Anyone else like to share their experience or if there are certain topics I need to look at before Exam Day?

    Thanks!

    I'd go with:

    Contracts

    Sales (UCC)

    Commercial paper

    Secured transactions

    Surety

    Agency

    Business structures

These are the topics how Becker covers them, but given the amount of attention they are given are definitely the most important areas where you should focus if your time is limited.

I didn't read blaw, but I did all of the MCQ in my trstbank for it. You have time for that. Then you can just read the stuff that doesn't make sense to you after going through questions.

@ Mamabear – I think that might be a better solution (especially since I don't have time). Do you think I should just hit my Becker questions for the law WITHOUT reading business law at all? I mean how would I know what to answer for the questions without doing any reading for the law? How did you manage to do the MCQ in your test bank without doing blaw? Can you explain that?

    Thanks!!

Ninja MCQ is just as good as reading the material itself. I only used that and Ninja notes for my REG exam and passed, though by the skin of my teeth but like you I was pressed for time. If I came across a question I didn't know at all, I'd guess the question and then read and write down the explanations for the question. The Ninja questions will explain why the right answer is right and the wrong ones are wrong as well as goes into great detail on business law. There's about 800 or so questions on BLAW and I did them all twice or so. IMO it's just as good as reading the book, especially in a time crunch.

    FAR 8/18/2014--87
    AUD 10/18/2014--78
    REG 11/24/2014--76

^ What he said. That is what I did. Took an educated guess then read the explanation. I used Ninja.

Don't forget about the ethics/professional responsibilities stuff. Sometimes that gets lumped in with business law (as in 60% tax/40% business law), but ethics/professional responsibilities is really its own category at roughly 20% of the exam. Since it is under-represented in prep materials (usually just 1-2 chapters) in proportion to its appearance on the exam, I like to bring this up.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)
