I am thinking about scheduling FAR for the last day of August. I am still waiting on my BEC score. Assuming I passed BEC, I am taking REG on 7/27. I have already started studying for REG. Does anybody think FAR can be conquered on just a month of studying? I really enjoyed FAR in school besides Governmental. The idea is that I am trying to knock out my last two exams in one quarter to get this process over with. I wouldn’t be all that busy with work because it is somewhat of a downtime for us, but I am taking a couple of days vacation in early August and will be moving to a new apartment during that month also. Should I try this with FAR or just wait to take it in Q4?

    AUD- 71,79
    BEC- 72,77
    FAR- 83
    REG- 63,71,83

    DONE!

I think a month is pushing it for FAR, it's the section with the most material to study. It would depend on how much time you can devote to studying and how well you comprehend and retain the information you're studying.

    BEC - 02/21/15 - 82
    FAR - 05/29/15 - 82
    AUD - 07/09/15 - 93
    REG - 11/14/15 - 80

    All done!!!

I would not try to do it in a month unless you're going to lose credit for something and can (and will) study full time. Don't know what review program you're using, but with Becker, you'd have to do 3+ chapters per week and only have 1 week to review. That's pretty freaking brutal.

If you took BEC on 5/18 and started studying right away for REG, I'd say 6 weeks is enough for Reg (take it first week of July) then take FAR at end of August giving yourself 7 or so weeks.

If you didn't start studying right away for REG and can't move it up sooner, I'd hesitate to give FAR less time than you gave REG, even if you like it.

I am using Roger for lectures and Gleim for supplemental multiple choice questions. With that said, is only a month and a half enough for REG? Because that is the path that I am now since I just recently started studying. It sounds like a bad idea to try to take FAR in a month's time, so I could probably push REG back a couple more weeks to allot more study time. Then hit FAR in Q4.

    Thanks for the help!

Ehhh unless you're trying to hit a deadline I would just do it Oct. 1st. It's not overly difficult material just a TON of material. Unless you do 8 hrs literally every day it'd be tough.

    FAR- 5/11/15 76!!
    AUD-10/31/15 63, 84!
    REG-7/12/16 72
    BEC-8/31/15 75!! Perfect Score!

Good point @mla. I just recently started studying. I was going to try to take REG in the middle of July, but I had to push studying back some because I have been swamped at work and didn't feel like I was putting in the right amount of time to stay on pace.

Another issue with attempting to expedite the FAR study process is the length of the multiple choice questions. When I studied REG and BEC I averaged about 30 seconds per MCQ and was able to finish the Becker chapters much quicker than the allotted time, but with FAR the questions are more time consuming and quantitative. I think 6-8 weeks would give you a higher chance of passing.

    BEC - 82
    REG - 86
    FAR - 85
    AUD - 84 and I'm out!!!!!

If your working full time, then 8 weeks for FAR is probably ideal.

REG and FAR are mind consuming and will steal your sanity! Ha

My strategy has been to focus on 1 test per window and adjust my study schedule accordingly. I typically take 3 weeks off during the closed month and then pick it up and test at the end of the window. Burn out is hard to avoid so I found the 3 weeks off is enough of a break.

    FAR - 71, 76
    REG - 75
    BEC - 76 (bubble sucks)

@jmshores, you could do FAR in a month, but it's gonna mean that's your free time for a month unless your just out of school. Write out a study schedule, I studied around 200 hours, and stick to it. You can knock it out!

    FAR - 91
    REG - 88
    AUD - 98
    BEC - 88

Honestly 4 weeks for FAR is pushing it! not saying it cannot be done but it will have to consume your life. I would say 6-8 Weeks for FAR and REG and 5-7 for BEC and Audit! Just my opinion and what works for me.

Yes it can be done in one month. I hope you have Becker's study material… If you don't then I don't know.

I passed with a 76, with only 3 weeks and a total of 90ish hours of studying. Here's how I did it:

    1) watched all the Becker lectures

    2) only did each sections optional homework questions

    3) did NOT do any simulations – focus on learning concepts is a better use of time

    4) did sets of 10 mcq from the progress test from only one section at a time, focus on the concepts you get wrong, continue working on a section until you consistently get 8 out of 10 right

    5) memorize the mnemonics that Pete and Tim give you, you will use them during test time!

This may sound bad, but you're not studying to learn accounting, you're studying to pass the exam. Cram it and brain dump it!

    REG - 80 (10/20/2014)
    FAR - 76 (05/29/2015)
    AUD - 68,71,87 (05/09/2016)
    BEC - 72,77 (02/01/2016)

Is 4 weeks for FAR pushing it if you're not in school and not working?

    REG - 4/1/2015 - 82, 100-110 hours of studying over 6 weeks (while taking 12 hours)
    AUD - 5/11/2015 - 91, 70-80 hours of studying over 4 weeks (while taking 12 hours)
BEC - 5/30/2015 - 82, 60-70 hours of studying over 2 weeks (post graduation, not in school)
    FAR - 7/23/2014 - 87, 160 hours of studying over 5 weeks

You're pushing it too hard. Accept the fact that you won't be able to take both REG and FAR in the same testing window and study for REG with the intention of passing and then go into FAR with the same mindset. Both REG and FAR has a lot of material to cover and you need to treat them with respect. While you don't want to spend too much time on a section, going in before you're ready or before you've had a chance to really go over the material is going to cost you more money and take you more time in the long run. That's my advice.

    I agree with @Angel

You're going to need 7-8 weeks to properly study for FAR or else you'll burn out before you are done. There is a difference between being ambitious and being insane. You'll need some time (mentally) to separate your REG and FAR knowledge since some of it over-laps and is totally different.
