Which of the following presents an example of a general control for a computerized system?

    a. Restricting access to the computer center by use of biometric devices.

    b. Limiting entry of sales transactions to only valid credit customers.

    c. Creating hash totals from Social Security numbers for the weekly payroll

    d. Restricting entry of accounts payable transactions to only authorized users.

The answer is a. I agree “a” is a general control. The answer said “d” is a user control. I didnt find user control at Becker’s book. Can any one tell me which page it is at? I guess “d” may be a application control, that is why it is not the correct answer. because it is more detail than “general”. Am I right? I also think bcd are all application control, because they are more detailed than general level. Are input control, processing control etc subcategory of general control/application control?

It looks like they're distinguishing between general and application controls. As you mentioned, B, C, and D are controls over specific applications and transactions, whereas A is a control that applies broadly.
