When I worked in corporate, you simply gave notice to your manager and that was that. This is my first time resigning from an accounting firm.
I’m currently assigned to only one engagement. A week ago I gave notice to the following individuals: HR manager, my manager/leader, and the manager in charge of the engagement I’m working on. My last day will be a week from now, so I gave them a little over two weeks’ notice. I just found out through a general conversation with HR that she hasn’t informed the partners yet. She said she wanted to respect my privacy but would tell them today if I wanted her to. Apparently there will also be an announcement on my last day. Is this normal? My firm is medium-sized (around 50 employees and 10 partners). The partners are the ones who make hiring/firing decisions. Shouldn’t they have known when I first handed in my notice? Should I have given them notice as well? My intention was to leave on good terms.
I should have known that the partners weren’t aware because I thought for sure I would have been verbally beaten up by now. The partners are pretty rough here.
