You reinforce my point. You have it reduced to a book defnition. Making it more complicated and wordy is not enhancing the value add that auditors used to bring. It is reducing them to paper pushers and giving more opportunities for crooks to lie cheat and steal. Common sense and intuition are being replaced by beauracracy. I'll pass the test this time easily, but I'm not getting anything useful out of it compared to the other tracks.

@bryan – The job description of an External Auditor does not entail finding crooks and lying people, period, it never has. I think your making yourself look quite guilty in continuing to bring it up too… If you ever had the opportunity to work on the other side of an audit, you would know auditors are not paper pushers… It requires a lot more intellect and knowledge to see an audit through start to finish than simply pushing some papers around. Internal Auditing is more considered with compliance of policies and procedures and ensuring fraud and errors are not occurring. If you're company were to ever hire Internal Auditors you might be able to see the distinction between the two professions and how you're miss-interrupting their job descriptions. But I am done with this conversation and wasting my time defending my job profession.

@iwantmylifeback. Don't be so defensive. Of course Internal auditors should be more concerned with safeguarding assets. All I'm saying is that the quality of the profession is diminishing with the continued expanse of the regulatory framework. The trained resources can not keep up with the mounting volumes of nonsense involved that detracts from the real value added benefits they used to bring. The intent of this was to prevent crimes. It is not. It is facilitates them short term while the profession has to catch up. The AICPA is in the business of breeding and producing auditors. It is only natural that they would put so much focus on this area, when there is clearly more important material in the other 3 functions. Good luck to you.
