    Tough to say about Monday…if things are buried, it will likely be closed.

    Score release delay? It could affect it.

    Well – if the AICPA has to shut down for a day or so … it could affect the score release grading.

    @Iwantmylifeback.

    Stay focused as hard as it is. You are so close.

    I myself got sandbagged by Sandy. Had no power for the whole week and FAR a month on the horizon. I was shot from taking care of the family and the house all week, when my rescheduled AUD went down 4 days later I finished in 2 hours and missed by 4 points.

    Its easy to lose all your momentum in just a couple of days and AUD is a joke of an exam. IMO they make it unnecessarily difficult by wordsmithing gotcha type questions. They have to make a mountain out of what amounts to very little material.

    Someday someone will figure out that FAR should be 7 hours and AUD 1 hour, but until then we have to suffer these fools.

    Stay frosty.

    @bryan

    Thanks 🙂 I also think they need to need to realize BEC needs to be longer than 3 hours… I've finished every exam with tons of time left, not BEC… submitted my December BEC exam left with 10 seconds to go! You'll get Audit this time around… It definitely sounds like your first time through with Audit you had a lot going on. I was so upset when I failed Audit the first time, I made sure I kicked it's butt the 2nd time around and managed to get an 89. I am sure you'll do the same. Good luck this week!

    REG - 72 (Oct 2011), 74 (May 2012), 80 (July 2012)
    FAR - 77 (Feb 2012)
    AUD - 70 (Aug 2012), 89! (Oct 2012)
    BEC - 71 (Dec 2012), 75!(Feb 2013)

    @Iwantmylifeback.

    Honestly, I found BEC easy but I have an MBA and have been building financial systems for over 15 years now but I agree it could be longer as it is a ton of material. REG as well has a boat load more material and FAR is ridiculous. AUD has been built up because of the focus in the profession, but it is a total joke and so is auditing nowadays. No auditor is going to catch the work of a crook and the auditors I deal with anymore don't even know what questions to ask. IMO they've made the field unnecessarily complicated and it actually just makes it easier to sneak things under the radar. But, let me get off my soapbox and offer advice on BEC. Sounds like you might be struggling on the quantitative aspects. Maybe save the calcs for last, do the ones you think you know next, save the ones you are not sure for last. That's how I went about it. If you don't know the technical answer in the essays, think about writing something that makes business sense. Good luck and most important thing is don't put it down until your test even if you think you were ready. Keep on keeping on.

    @bryan – ohhh how that post made me laugh haha… I work in auditing 🙂 haha. I worked in public accounting for 5+ years and now work in internal auditing for a top 20, fortune 500 company. So I'll bite my tongue on the auditing comments you just made 🙂 … I too have my MBA, which I don't think has helped much in studying for BEC… BEC is more of exactly what it stands for, the Business Environment, and being in management's shoes running corporation, dealing with economic and global impacts, your IT environment, budgeting and dealing with your operations, etc.. Which yes, maybe I learned about in my MBA classes, but the exam is easier to tackle in my opinion with real life experiences than past textbook experiences. The topics all connected and basic concepts, its just the randomness of it all as you go from one chapter to the next in comparison to the other sections of the CPA exam. I actually found FAR to be the easiest section after working in public for 5 years. It's the only section I didn't fail my first time! I am queen of scoring between 70 an 74. But I guess to each his own! Hopefully we both become CPA's this quarter! Good luck to you!

    REG - 72 (Oct 2011), 74 (May 2012), 80 (July 2012)
    FAR - 77 (Feb 2012)
    AUD - 70 (Aug 2012), 89! (Oct 2012)
    BEC - 71 (Dec 2012), 75!(Feb 2013)

    @Iwantmylifeback.

    You have a point, I've been working on systems which puts all accounting concepts within my range as well as the business needs and I've worked with the c level players throughout my career giving me a lot of the big picture.

    Please don't take my view of auditing the wrong way. I think it is very valuable part of the profession, but I think the framework and extent of examination on it is way off proportionately. If I heard more examples of fraud detection up front I might change my mind, but it seems the horse is out of the barn every time and I've been through too many full revenue cycle audits with 2 year auditors who don't seem to know what questions to ask. I think we've buried the profession with all this framework and gotten away from common sense and intuition.

    @ bryan – As I am sure you are aware, the purpose of an audit is not to detect fraud or error… the purpose is to give credibility to the financial statements and to ensure the financial statements are presented fairly and in all material respects, not entirely free of every error or fraud. Remember this as your studying Audit and going through your employer's year end audit, as perhaps you misinterpreting the intention and purpose of an audit. Best of luck.

    REG - 72 (Oct 2011), 74 (May 2012), 80 (July 2012)
    FAR - 77 (Feb 2012)
    AUD - 70 (Aug 2012), 89! (Oct 2012)
    BEC - 71 (Dec 2012), 75!(Feb 2013)
