Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and it coincides with my daughter’s birthday. We do not eat the traditional meal because we are a household of vegetarians but we do love the side dishes and desserts. For me Thanksgiving has to include pumpkin pie. You?

Growing up, the mandatory things were turkey, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, and green bean casserole. Then I started having Thanksgiving with my in-laws, and they usually have pumpkin pie but that's the only one from that list that they have…so I've learned to do without the mandatory foods. 😐 But do try to have the foods I'm used to some time around the holiday still. 🙂

My favorite is cool whip with a side of pumpkin pie. I love pumpkin pie and I load it up with cool whip.

Whoa! You guys make it to the Pumpkin Pie?!

Most of my Thanksgiving memories includes the turkey and mash potatoes flying in the face family members. That includes the before the dinner of a supposedly friendly touch football game.

I agree with Lilla that after having Thanksgiving with my in-laws I learned that not much is mandatory. However, I do enjoy turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, and homemade rolls. I typically get 1/2 of those things on Thanksgiving. I would say the in-laws believe that ambrosia is a dessert necessary for Thanksgiving. However, I am not a fan of it so that leaves me with no dessert on Thanksgiving. I have tried to go to my side of the family but that turns out like Skynet mentioned. It's okay though one holiday of not gaining weight for me and I cook what I want the rest of the year.

We do Thanksgiving half-and-half style. I'm Taiwanese and my entire extended family moved here from Taiwan, so we have turkey, some sort of Asian-style fish, rice, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, green beans, and tea-leaf eggs. Also one random uncle was born in India even though he's German, so we usually have some sort of curry. Fun stuff!

I'm a fan of the sides more than anything: Dressin', green been casserole, mashed potatoes, and the nap that happens right afterwards.

I am reviving this post because scores are out and Thanksgiving is tomorrow. And because I just called costco and they are out of their pumpkin pie. Now I have to go on a quest to see if I can get one or the fixin's for one because it won't be Thanksgiving without it!
I am thankful for my daughter who is very far away this year and today is her birthday. I love and miss her very much. We just talked and she is off to a hockey game tonight!

I am fan of gluttony followed by a long nap during the cowboys game due to turkey and wine
