Out of college I got pretty lucky… I work for a wholly owned subsidiary of a very large public company (which is all we contract to) where I basically have a cost accounting job for power plant work. The work is nothing related to GAAP or actual real accounting. My pay varies depending on what work I do during the year, but to give an idea, my year to date is 70k, however there isn’t much room for advancement. Hopefully as of Sept 10th i’ll be 3 quarters done with the exam with only regulation left which will be a retake. I’m aware i’ll need to leave my current job to get the 1 year experience and start entry level in public accounting where I’ll get a rather large paycut…is it worth it? Thanks.
