This may be a dumb question, but I hope someone can answer to put my mind at ease.
I am hoping for my last passing grade on Tuesday. If I do pass, getting my experience comes next. Due to current circumstances in my life I will probably not be able to work right away (not until April). As far as the time frame between passing the exams and completing my experience, is there a restriction? Or can I have my exams passed now and then begin working in April next year? I can’t find anything in the Wisconsin statute that states any type of time restriction, but I want to make sure. It has put a little panic in me. lol! thank you in advance!

In my experience, once you pass all 4 in 18 months, you keep those passing scores for life.
I know some states have a rule that your experience must be recent/immediately preceding your license application, but I have not heard of any states where you would lose your passing scores.
April is after busy season for most firms, and they would be looking to reduce work force, not hire. Why are you unable to work until after April 2019? Some states allow/count part time work so that might help you get your foot in the door sooner rather than later.

There are some states that you will lose your scores in if you don't obtain experience within a specified time frame. In Florida for example, you only have 3 years from the time you pass to obtain work experience and then your scores expire. In Texas, like most states, they never expire. But, there are a handful of states where they do. I would ask for written confirmation of this from your state board. I am with @Recked that April is not a good time to try to enter the public accounting workforce (actually, its probably the worst time). So I would evaluate your options to see if it is absolutely necessary to wait that long even if it is part-time, etc.

I've had this same question. I am under the impression that score don't expire. However, I think some states require you to stay relevant through CPE while you're waiting for your experience to be competed. One problem with the CPA exam is each state board is different, and there's no standardized rules.

I passed and am a candidate in the WI jurisdiction. I have confirmed with the state licensing board your passing exam scores do not expire.

Thank you everyone! I am going to be having my second child at the end of January so I will be going back into the job market in April. Terrible timing, I know. This is why I am having such a problem with making a life plan right now. lol! It wasn't the plan, the baby thing took longer than we wanted. I am sure the stress of taking these exams had nothing to do with my inability to conceive……..lots of sarcasm there. I am surprised I got pregnant at all through this. lol!
