Outdated Information?

How often does the CPA exam update? I ask because my co worker is giving me his Becker book that he purchased last November and I want to supplement them with NINJA products. I don’t want to study outdated information so I was hoping someone could clear this up for me.

    Thanks in advance!

I'd really suggest gettting the newest possible versions, this is especially important for REG and BEC which are often much more rapidly developing due to their nature: eg. applicable rates, technologies of BEC, etc.

If you needed perhaps AUD and FAR may be more “useable” but still, things have changed there too.

Spatel must work for CPA review companies. You do not need to spend thousands on new versions if you have last year's version. Read about the updates and make sure you know what's going on and what's different. If you aren't comfortable doing that research, then do as Spatel said.

    FAR - Passed (82)
    BEC - Passed (76)
    AUD - Passed (89)
    REG - Passed! (81)

To piggyback on what FIFOisbetterthanLIFO said, online CPA review courses, including Becker, will keep you up to date about any changes. If you're strictly using books (i.e., 100% offline), then you will need to do more research on updates, but using the online version of a CPA review course makes it much easier for you to stay up to date, since all of the updates will most likely be included somewhere on the course website.
