Tell me which one you would choose or which one you wouldn’t choose. I know we all have our preferences but perhaps there is something I haven’t considered. Pricing considerations are irrelevant because I’m stealing it…just kidding…they’re reasonable and affordable for my budget.

    1. 2015 Chevy Malibu LS or LT

    2. 2015 Chrysler 200 Limited

    3. 2014 Toyota Cary LE

P.S. I can’t afford a more luxurious car to steal Megan Fox from Skynet.

    D. None of the above. Go with a Civic. Between reliability and fuel efficiency you can't beat it.

I got a 14 Civic EX-L right when I started my job in October and have nothing but nice things to say about it. I average around 36 MPG on my commute downtown. Fully loaded except for nav, but who needs that with a smartphone in their pocket?

Honda Accord or Mazda 6, best options given the class of cars OP is considering.

Go with the Toyota! It is probably more reliable.

Yeah, Anna, the front overlap test is bad but the rest are okay. This is a newer test (within the last few years) so not all models have adapted to it yet. https://www.iihs.org/iihs/ratings/vehicle/v/honda/pilot-4-door-suv

If not for that, i would have gotten it as well. Really can't beat Hondas. And it reminded me of Ella. i literally actually took my two fords to the mechanic more times in an average month than my Element in a decade, not including maintenance. And the fords had transmission (at 50k miles ), brakes (every 2 months or so) all the expensive and important stuff. All the element needed after 10 years was a window motor and a new horn.

I have a Pontiac G6, which is closely related to the Malibu. I have had it for five years, and other than a couple of recalls, I haven't had any major problems with it. I know GM, Ford, and Chrysler vehicles have a bad reputation from the 80s and 90s, but they have come a long way in the last decade.

My vote would be for the Camry. I married into a 2007 Corolla that now has around 120k miles and has only required oil changes and normal preventative care.

I will also vouch for the Malibus… My brother which drives absolutely crazy (no exaggeration, he's hell on wheels) has a 2010ish Malibu that has required little if no maintenance which is absolutely incredible considering how he drives it.

I can vouch for Hondas and Toyotas; for the most part they are pretty much trouble free cars for their useful lives. I have a Honda now going for 7 years and 100k miles without any major repairs.

If you start to make the big bucks, I would avoid anything European. Volkswagen, BMW, and Audi for the most part as they are known for having numerous and expensive repairs, although Mercedes has a better reliability record. Of the three mentioned, Volkswagen and Audi are the worst. They are fun to drive when they work but they are like ticking time bombs waiting to leave you stranded. I leased an Audi before and actually returned it before my lease was up because I couldn't rely on the car starting every morning.

As for BMW, if you have the money, don't buy one, instead lease one as most dealers offer free maintenance for the first 4 years/50k miles. And BMWs are known to start kicking the bucket after 50k miles. One of my friends works for BMW USA, and always says, only suckers buy BMWs, the smart one lease them.

Thank you all for your feedback!

As a result, I'm considering purchasing a 2014 Honda Accord LX. The only thing stopping me at this point is that apparently this vehicle's driving can be a bit choppy and stiff suspension.

I think the only available option to know if I'm okay with this is to rent the same similar make and model for a couple of days. I'm thinking that it can't be too bad since consumer reports actually recommends the car but better safe than sorry.

If anyone has further feedback on really finding out or have owned or know someone who does, then I'd much appreciate their thoughts.

Otherwise, I will most likely go for a Camry.

My family swears by Toyota. My father has a 22 year old Landcruiser that is pushing 350k+ miles with no major mechanical work done. One of the rear windows doesn't wind down, the seats are torn, the paint is peeling, one of the door handles doesn't work and the A/C is busted, but there was no major mechanical work ever done to it. It gets from point A to point B and never quits. I joke with him and tell him that he parks it in the garage so he doesn't make the property value in the neighborhood drop.
