Tell me which one you would choose or which one you wouldn’t choose. I know we all have our preferences but perhaps there is something I haven’t considered. Pricing considerations are irrelevant because I’m stealing it…just kidding…they’re reasonable and affordable for my budget.

    1. 2015 Chevy Malibu LS or LT

    2. 2015 Chrysler 200 Limited

    3. 2014 Toyota Cary LE

P.S. I can’t afford a more luxurious car to steal Megan Fox from Skynet.

Allergic2CPA – You're Damn Right! you won't be stealing Megan Fox from me. I'm watching you : P

I would go with the Camry. Reliable and require very little maintenance.

You know for the last 25+ years I would have gone on and on about the value of a camry, how they're close to impossible to kill and how repairs are probably the most reasonable overall (few and far between, but not over the top when they come up.)

Recently I needed a rental and got a Chrysler 200, and it was just FUN to drive.

That said, I am hopelessly devoted to Jettas and sad not to see one on your list.

Also look into a civic or VW golf/gti.

If you can get Passat or Jetta go for it. I have a Passat, and enjoy it.

My advice is to pay for a one month subscription to Consumer Reports and use their input in your decision. Also, if you're about to buy this car as new from a dealer, I'd steer away from that (pun entirely intended). Buying used will save you a bunch of money, plus you'll have more data points on the reliability of the car (from Consumer Reports). And if it's a year or two old without a ton of mileage on it, you'll still have a factory warranty. The last car I bought was brand new from a dealer. It was nice, but I still regret buying it from a dealer and paying the depreciation costs myself. Not to mention that nearly all dealers are awful and will try relentlessly to sell you useless crap that you don't need.

I have a Corolla and have been very happy with it, and have heard only positive things from the other Toyota owners in my family, so I'd go with the Camry. Personally, the “bells and whistles” of a Camry over a Corolla weren't of interest to me so not worth it, but I think both are good cars and Toyotas in general are a solid choice. If you treat them well, you'll be driving them a very long time.

Of your choices, it's hard not to say Camry. Look around for a week or so and there are still 3 makes out there rocking from the 90s and early 00s. Toyota Camry, Lexus is300 and Honda Civic. 2 of those are the same thing, one just has nicer leather (I think).

In my opinion the Malibu had really significant blind spots. My mom had one and that is one thing I remember not liking about it. It also had a lot of problems, I cannot remember what they were now, but if you are curious I can find out.

I am not a Chrysler fan, it is really just a personal thing. They look big and clunky and there style becomes dated very quickly.

I don't know if a Camry LE is worth it … I would go with one of the other options if they are higher models.

Have you seen/ considered the Hyundai Sonata? They look really cool. I don't know how much they are. My MIL has owned her Hyundai for almost 15 years and she hasn't been the best on maintenance. It is just now starting to have some mechanical issues.

I agree with those who mentioned the VW Jetta/Passat/Golf … I have owned two Jettas. They are very safe. I was T-boned on a major intersection straight to the drivers door by a 1967 Mustang going over 40 miles and hour and I was not injured. My mom has a passat and it is huge inside and has good getup for a 4 cylinder (especially compared to the Jetta).

What are your goals? Gas mileage? Prestige? Reliability?

I'm a hardcore Chevy guy (Have a built LS1 Trans Am, Turn't up Cobalt SS/SC, and a 1995 S10 for hauling). I'd go with a Cruze Eco if you can drive stick. Cheaper than all three listed above, reliable, and looks nice. Rated for 30 city/42 hwy, but the six-speed cars consistently average 50+ on the hwy cruising. I'll be replacing the Cobalt with a Cruze after I pass all four sections, don't need two “fast” cars.

I HATE Chevys and Chryslers (and Fords and Land Rovers and everything else that will break down every other week) so would definitely steer you towards the Camry.

I love Honda – my Element lasted a decade with no repairs until year 10, and those were VERY minor, until some c&*# couldn't get her head out of her apps and totaled it with her BMW. That car appreciated in value when they stopped making it. The 2011s with low mileage actually sell for above MSRP when they were new. Sorry, this was a year ago and I still really miss and love my beautiful Ella (the Element). Unfortunately, Honda doesn't make any cars I like I at the moment (other than the pilot, which has terrible crash test ratings), so I went with the Mazda CX-5, but I need 4wd and a good winter car.

Rented a Camry after the accident, enjoyed it. Pretty smooth ride.

Whatever you go with, check out iihs.gov crash test ratings first!

    Camry all the way.

I am probably biased because all that I have owned are 2 Hondas and 2 Toyotas. My wife has an '05 Corolla.
