After 2 long years.. she has broken up with me saying she’s unsure if she wants anything more serious with me (as in marriage), and that we argue a bit too much (which she has admitted its both of our faults). This couldn’t come at a worse time… I can’t concentrate on FAR. All I did today was watch a 3 hr lecture. Thats it. We are both accounting grads, and going for the CPA. She started work already a month ago (thats when our problems started). She would be at the metro around 10pm, and I would pick her up and take her home, where I would hang out with her and her family for an hour or so. She would be so exhausted that we would spend very little time together (which I am okay with). But she would snap at any little thing…

We went through everything together.. junior/senior year together, graduation, interviews, and a study abroad trip. life sucks. Thought I was going to marry this girl.. I guess not.

sorry for the off topic, just needed somewhere to vent.

    BRO

Do NOT let this breakup prevent you from passing FAR. You're going to pass AUD this weekend on score release and use that momentum to finish FAR on THIS attempt. Delete her number, talk to your friends, family, and study. Try not to study at a place where you're alone in a room. Go to the public or campus library where there are a lot of people studying as well. That might be some good motivation to keep you studying with them.

he'll snap out of it once he fails FAR and regrets moping around over some broad instead of studying

How?! Did you do all the MCQ's/SIMs? Twice?

Didn't do any SIMs practice. Went through my notes like a madman every day as to not forget the earlier stuff and pounded MCQs constantly until my eyes bled. I did redo some MCQ but not too many because of a time crunch. Nothing out of the ordinary except that I didn't study from a book at all and relied on lecture videos + MCQs to get me through.

I feel your pain. My bf and I broke up about a week before my AUD exam and A71 was where I came to vent:

    https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/its-official-the-cpa-exam-made-me-a-single-lady

Everyone gave great advice and was really supportive. I agree with Mrs 300 IGNORE HER. It will be a win-win for you in the end. It'll be easier to get over her if you're not talking at all.

In my opinion, if she did start texting you after a few days still ignore her because most likely she's just checking to make sure she can still have you when she wants you or it's the whole “want what you can't have” thing. As a lady in my mid-20s I can tell you this is usually the case with my friends. It's not that they actually want him back, they just want to know that they could have him back if they did.

@KellyP – The reason I posted on A71, was because I previously saw your thread, and read it all! I knew A71 would understand.. It really is hard you know she didn't really give me a reason.. her reasons varied from “its not you its me” (stupid a$$ reason), to “i just wanna be alone right now,” “I dont wanna be in a relationship right now.”

Damn at least give me a good reason rather then making me sit here curiously thinking what is going on in her tiny little head you know? At least if she gave me a reason thats worth breaking up over I could be like hmm okay she has a good point.. but who tells someone “its not you its me”…

Its pretty hard you know I've been on F2 for 6 days.. and have about 47 questions left in the optional mcq's, and the sims left (except the research question).. I find my self constantly distracted.. I should of been half way through F4 today. I've wasted a whole damn week on this crap, and it pisses me off so badly..

Thank you for post though! 🙂 It sucks how she couldn't wait until I finished FAR!!!

It's okay, futuremdcpa. I wasted a few days too. And in my case, I just put my book aside because I knew I wouldn't be able to study. Good thing I was able to get back to it soon enough!

How are you doing today? 🙂

I was thinking the same thing about waiting. I was like Really, you couldn't have waited a week? He pretty much told me that I studied too much and didn't give him enough attention. And the attention he wasn't getting was the watching tv, going to the bar kind, the other kind was never a problem. You can't let this girl F with your exam. You deserve better than that, she dumped you in a shitty way & you can't change that, but you can change how you treat yourself. For me, I do better when I write out a schedule like work, gym, study & write down how much I'm going to get done. The best feeling I had was when I found out I passed AUD, it made me realize the CPA exam is so much more important then someone who can't tough it out with you for a few months. Between work and studying I don't see being able to meet any men anytime soon, except the A71 boys 🙂 so I'm just focusing on my exams and hoping everyone here can be my social circle for now Lol

@stefiva3 – I'm getting more and more MCQ's done as the days go by.. however, I don't really think I am comprehending the material that well. Between REG/AUD (excluding A4), and BEC (excluding cost), I usually would do 1 chapter every 2 days. I did F1 in 2 days, and F2 has been from Sunday to today. I am going to finish it today since I have 40~ questions left. It just sucks how one person out of the 6-7 million people in the world could affect me this much.

@KellyP – Didn't he realize that when you pass you will be making so much $$ in the future, and be able to have a great and comfortable lifestyle? I don't get it!! How do people not see that? Its like breaking up because you are going to school.. Um hello im going to graduate and make so much more money… its for a better future for us.. Sometimes people and the way they think amaze me.. I used to go to the gym 6-7 days a week (yes every day almost) I was pretty built up.. then came school & CPA exam and all this.. now I lost the majority of my muscles!!! It sucks! Oh well that is life.. good luck on FAR!

If I was single, young and a CPA, I'd try to live insanely frugally right now and save some cash. You'll never be home as a staff, sr., or manager, so don't bother with renting anything beyond a place to sleep. If it was me, I'd live in a sprinter van, parked stealthy in nice neighborhoods, shower at the YMCA and spend free time at movies, mountains, beaches, etc. Meet friends at bars and figure out how to brush off questions about your living status. Once you're married and have kids you'll be trapped at home/work constantly and you'll think back fondly on your vagabond days.

@earob – I have a good amount saved, and only 3K in loans because I felt like being unemployed and studying full time during the summer. I will be at my parents home until I get married lol.. I am very frugal, and I plan on saving almost all my money.. But I do love to splurge once in a while.. on some nice designer clothes & jeans..

I have come to realize something, that since I started school, and dated this ex-gf for 2 years, I now have no friends. Everyone is moved, and has their own thing going on.. I am just waiting to start work, and meet people there I guess.. Even though I doubt this will work out in my favor, because everyone at the B4 I will be working at seemed to already have their own life outside of work.
