This is a total vent about this exam and scheduling and everything else going on. Work has been crazy for me the last 3 weeks working crazy hours and weekends. I hardly have had any study time. So last week I pushed my exam back from 11/9 to 11/25. Today my husband asked when my new exam date was, when I told him, he goes you won’t be able to go to the parties on the 23rd. I almost hit the roof, really that’s what we are worried about here? Then a long guilt trip was given about missing one of the events. So then when I suggested moving it to Dec 5th, I am told but we leave that night for vacation! I wanted to scream. I think the exam is a little more important then some party, and our social calendars. I feel like he isn’t understanding how important this last section is. Cause then the next comment is always just pass already. UGH!

So now I moved it to Dec 5th, but I am not too sure I feel ok about that day….Last year I took Audit on Dec 6th (my birthday, and the day we were leaving for vacay) and passed so maybe its good luck. But at the same time I am always worried about taking exams at the end of windows during cold months because of weather…Plus I was really hoping not to study over Thanksgiving….I also don’t know how I feel about Nov 22nd which would be my other option.

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

No, not work related, the ones on the 23rd? A first birthday and friendsgiving (this is a totally made up thing)…… I see why i can't miss the first birthday but friendsgiving really? What's the big deal?

5 mile radius – I love it! To bad that takes me into two states, and sometimes hours worth of commuting 2 hours to go 4 miles today… πŸ™ Metro NYC you stink sometimes

I am totally having a pity party for myself today and I know it… Thanks for letting me vent, for cheering me up and making me laugh πŸ™‚

Just curious, but when does one of your exam expire? Either take it early so that you can just enjoy the holidays, or push it until you're fully prepared (like the next window, assuming none of your previous exams expires). You only have REG left right?

    FAR - 62 (10/2/13), 50 (5/30/14)
    AUD - 73 (10/30/13), 66 (5/6/14)
    REG - 69 (4/8/14)
    BEC - 66 (2/27/13), 73 (4/21/14)

Oh dear. I would really get upset if my hubby did that.

I am kind in Jennifers boats. Friends ?? I have no friends for two reason.

    1. I moved from Canada to come to the USA… so I left all my friends behind

    2. I started the CPA journey which has resulted in me having no social life at all.

I can't wait to rejoin society.

You have just one exam left and I think you should aim to settle down and start studying.. even if its 30 mins to start with because you have a hectic schedule then so be it. 30 mins is better than no mins.

I agree about the comments being made that thanksgiving comes every year. If you miss this one, there is always next year. I am taking my exam on Nov 30th and I told my husband and family, you all want to celebrate go ahead but don't count me in and don't feel back. My absence is temporary and i will make sure I will be there next year.

@DC – i want to skip! And move my exam back to the 25! I need to think about it….We go on vacation every year that weekend, both of our birthdays are that weekend so it's a good excuse!

@KADFC – my exam doesn't expire till June, however I really need to pass this window. I have a promotion that I have a much better chance of getting if I pass before the year is over.

@IY247 – I agree 30 minutes is better then no minutes! Luckily my busy work days are over till the end of December and now that we are past the hurtle at work my boss is very supportive of my leaving on time to study πŸ™‚

Thanks again everyone! Now to keep dec 5th or go back (if I can get it) to Nov 25…. I may wait and see how studying is going before I decide

That sounds terrible! My boyfriend tends to do the same thing. Will say one thing, but then as soon as something doesn't go his way, will try to guilt-trip me (mostly to do more around the apartment, he's very anal about organization/cleanliness). He doesn't care too much about events (as he doesn't want to go in the first place, so win-win for him, lol).

But friendsgiving can totally be skipped! Or tell him to go by himself if it means so much! The 1st birthday can be a drop-by for a couple of hours. The CPA is your most important priority right now. No one is dying if you don't go to an event. If he wants to go so badly, he can go.

I'm horrible at saying no to events (for my family), so I usually end up going and then skipping out after a couple hours.

    Good luck!! Stay strong πŸ™‚

If you're comfortable that you'll be prepared on the 25th, take it on the 25th. I get where your hubby is coming from but I think its far more important right now that you are comfortable with the date. Remind him this is IT, your last exam, and you'll be able to devote time and attention to him, your family, and friends that you haven't been able to in a very long time!

Its probably more that he wants to see you relaxed and enjoying yourself for a change, but you would be faking it for everybody else's sake and that's no good.

    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
