So my husband went out with a couple of his friends, my friend is at a Halloween party I was invited to, and it just seems that everyone is having a great weekend except for me (and most of you guys I’m sure). I know it’s going to be worth it in the end, but I can’t help but feel really anxious on nights like these when I absolutely can’t do anything but be stuck at home studying. Do any of you guys ever feel like this? What do you do to avoid 1) eating your entire fridge and/or 2) saying the hell with it and succumbing to watching TV? Seriously concerned right now…

I feel your pain. I have missed so much over the last 6 months, friend's birthday celebrations, taking my kids to the beach, all of the fall activities going on that my parents get to take them to while I study. I work full time so the weekends is when I get most of my studying done. The thing that keeps me going is knowing that I'm tired of missing stuff and the sooner I can be done with it, the sooner I can do more fun stuff with the kids besides homework, dinner, baths and bedtime and I'll get to hang out with my friends again and actually be fun. You can do it. Just keep reminding yourself that the more you focus now, the sooner you'll be done with all of this. As for the bad habits while studying–I do wind up eating a lot just to break up the monotony of MCQs and reading and note taking. I have no advice for you on that one because I eat the junk, nothing healthy. As for the t.v. watching, it is harder with the fall line up back on, but I just allow myself one show as I'm going to bed each night or else I would watch my entire line up in one sitting. On the weekends when I do my marathon study sessions I only watch one 30 minute show while I eat lunch (usually big bang theory reruns). I do the same thing at dinner time. Other than that I just study constantly and occasionally check these forums for any study tips or hints. And not to add any pressure to you, but if you don't have kids yet, hurry and finish because it is AWFUL trying to do this with kids. “Mommy, why aren't you going to the park with us?” “Mommy, do you have to study AGAIN?” “Mommy, I miss you.” GET IT DONE NOW! 🙂

Well ima break the streak of Moms on this thread, my wife took the kids out for a costume/birthday party (not one of my kids' bday) and I'm at home studying lol Been tough that my days are practically school -> work -> study -> sleep -> repeat.. and the weekends I'm catching up on more studying and catching up on rest.

It's a looooong, long winding road and I can't wait to be done. Definitely have moments where I wanna just say eff this and go do something else, but just gotta keep to it. Once you're done with the exams, you're done forever! Stay motivated!

Thanks guys for the motivation! I had studied earlier in the day and was fine, but then I just really slowed down at home and got a bit depressed. I don't have time to feel sorry for myself…my test is in a few days already!!!

Welcome to the CPA Exam where everyday is like Groundhog Day: Study – Work – Lunch Break Study – Work – Home Study – 5 hours sleep, wash, rinse, repeat.

I feel your pain. In the last 18 months I've fallen out of touch with so many of my friends that it's not even funny. It's even more frustrating when you fail a test because it prolongs the pain. I cannot even begin to tell you how many family events I've missed out on. However, I'm not starting to buckle down and I've even sacrificed watching Football on Sundays – which has even harder than missing family functions! However, I know that I'll have plenty of football to watch after I'm a CPA and can get that 120 inch t.v. set!

Just keep going, it will be worth it in the end.
