Have any of you had to quit the ‘book as a means of having better focus while studying?

I stream music when I study – Pandora or Spotify – which means I’m connected to the net one way or another (no music is not an option!). I have no family in the region and many of my good friends live out of state as well, so Facebook has always been there for me to keep in touch. Also my father is working in the middle east so we often use it as a means of overcoming the time difference and expensive phone calls. NEEDLESS TO SAY I LOVE CHECKING FACEBOOK and I’m chock-full of excuses as to why I’m always on it. Anyone else in the same predicament? Did you up and quit cold turkey? I’m told you can reinstate it if you only do a “temp” quit. Thinking this will help keep my mind and focus on FAR and then when I’m DONE FOREVER, I can facebook and manage as many fantasy sports teams as I wish.

I had my boyfriend change my password and only had supervised visits on the weekends to see what was going on. Honestly I didn't miss much and am really glad I went that route. I did it for my last exam only and I passed… so I think it helped. Do you have someone to do the same for you? That way you don't have to lose all your history from your profile.

Can a friend/SO change your password, and allow you access only once a day/week? And then sign you off after?

If you can email your dad/family members, you can ‘quit' facebook and just reinstate it when you're ready. But nothing is there to stop you from reinstating it any time you want (I don't think?)

Yes, would definitely recommend temporarily quitting FB. It's so easy to just hop on for a minute just to check in, then you find you've spent 30 minutes or more just looking at pictures, etc. Like you, I use it to keep in touch with family as well but I told folks that they could always email if they absolutely needed to get in touch with me. I had my sister change my password and gave strict instructions (and a friendly reminder) that my test was on xx/xx date and that she could give it back to me that afternoon. 🙂 GL!

There are productivity programs you can use to block out certain sites temporarily. Chrome has one called Stayfocusd. There are others out there. I haven't used them, but have certainly been thinking about it.

Maybe some ninjas out there can share which ones they like best?

I didn't quit Facebook but I did cut back the time on it..My use for it was comparable for yours though…If this is the only way of communicating with family I personally wouldn't
