mdrobbinMemberI just spent 5 months in Tokyo for work. I had never felt an earthquake in my life (I'm from Chicago) until I relocated for a temporary work assignment. I got used to earthquakes very quickly because I felt one just about once a week. It was weird the first time it shook me awake in the middle of the night and I felt the apartment building shaking but it became just a part of life.
Now I'm back in Chicago so probably no more earthquakes for me. As long as they aren't severe enough to cause damage, I kind of like the random earthquakes… makes things a bit more exciting as long as no one gets hurt. I sat for AUD in Tokyo and was just hoping for no earthquakes during the exam. Luckily, no earthquakes and I passed!

mdrobbinMemberOne of the best experiences of my life… career wise and just for the personal/cultural experience. I'm very lucky I had the opportunity to go there for business. My boss in the US had to drag me back home against my will at the end of my assignment.

jomarieParticipantI'll never forget the first one I felt. While I was on maturity leave with my little one I heard all my cupboards and dishes shake. I was sitting at the kitchen table, studying for Audit, and I felt my chair shake. My Dad looked at me and said “what was that? Your house seems to be shaking.” I said ” I bet that was an earthquake.” Later on we found out the center was in Ottawa. I live near the US-Canadian border. I also have a crack in my kitchen drywall to prove it.
Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....

AnonymousInactiveCalifornian here. Yesterday was the 23rd anniversayr of the Loma Prieta earthquake. I will alwasy remember exactly what I was doing when it happened (putting my hair in a ponytail for dance class).
@CashMoney WELCOME to SF! You are going to love it here. And lucky you moved here the week we have the best weather. Keep in mind the weather is like this only once a year. And summer can be soul sucking with all the fog. But the best thing about SF, you are only a short drive away to sunshine, north, south our east! J
Oh and just remeber to duck and cover when there are earthquakes.

littlenumberrobotMemberThere was a 5.3 magnitude earthquake in the western central valley CA last night. A lot of people felt in in my city(including me!), My apartment shook like crazy. Anyways, everyone got on FB immediately was posting about it being their first one they felt. So really I guess no place is safe in CA from them.

surfer4life949MemberI definitely felt that one last night. I haven't experienced many earthquakes where I actually notice them, but last night while I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep, I felt my whole bed shake. Such a trip. It took a second to realize it was an earthquake.

AnonymousInactiveSorry folks, but I'll take a hurricane any day over an earthquake. The very idea of the ground shaking, well, it scares the sh*t out of me! At least with a hurricane, we have some warning. People who live in earth quake prone areas are a lot braver than I am and I'm not scare of much!
