Ok, so I’m seeing this new girl (don’t worry she’s not the first grader). She teaches first grade, and its their last week of school next week. She asked me to come in to class, meet her students, and help her pack up supplies for summer. I’m thinking I could score some easy points with her if I bring in goodie bags for the kids. So aside from candy what kind of little toys or something should I put in the goodie bags?

    My ideas:

-I read that children in that age group like the movie “Frozen.” Should I do Frozen-themed goodie bags?

-I found this website (Orientaltrading.com) that sells goodie bag type toys. Are first graders amused by any kind of these cheap toys?

-Should I play it safe and just bring in Dunkin Doughnuts Munchkins?

I’m curious about your ideas! Thank you!!!!!

    O, a few more things:

    – I want to keep it under $100 dollars

    – I'd prefer the bags to be suitable for both boys and girls (but I am willing to make gender specific bags)

    – About 25 kids in the class

First graders love cheap toys and orientaltrading has lots of those. An easy one is bubbles. They are very cheap and there are so many different toys you can get to go with a bottle of bubbles. Frozen would probably be more for the girls. I have 3 girls so I honestly can't say whether boys like Frozen or not. You usually can't go wrong with Superheroes for boys (Spiderman and Superman are usually the favorites). I don't know where you live, but I'm in Florida and with summer here beach toys are a huge hit for birthday party favors. Buckets, shovels, inflatable balls, etc. Sweets are always great, but with all the allergies in kids these days I would be hesitant to send in anything without passing it by the teacher first and I assume you are trying to keep this a surprise.

Here are 12 sets of beach toys for $10.99–They probably aren't really big sets, but you can find a lot of this stuff at the dollar store. I got big buckets and filled them with beach toys that come 4-5 per pack for a dollar. I think I made 20 party favor sets for around $50 for my girls' birthday party last year.

Wonderful suggestions! Thank you, @mamabear!!! I think summer-theme is the way to go. I'm thinking I go with the buckets from the link you posted for everyone. For the girls, I'll add a Frozen snowglobe to the bucket (https://www.orientaltrading.com/disneyand-s-frozen-snow-globes-a2-13653602.fltr?Ntt=frozen%20snow). For the boys, I'll add these super hero rubber ducks (https://www.orientaltrading.com/superhero-rubber-duckies-a2-16_1099.fltr?prodCatId=550222).

So sweet of you to want to do this, I'd stay away from food/snacks/anything edible though! You have no idea the allergies, restricted diets, etc. and food in schools in general is a pretty hairy area LOL!

Maybe little dollar store sunglasses with a note that says “stay cool this summer!”

Temporary tattoos are usually a big hit for kids too. Boys and girls. Here are some cool ones for 2nd graders, which is how they already see themselves on the last day of school. 🙂
