Anyone preparing for it? I am in Boston and plan on getting some bottled water tonight. Hopefully it won’t be that bad here, maybe heavy rain and strong wind. I feel so alone! My husband is out of town until mid-November. I’m kinda scared. 🙁

October 29, 2012 at 8:42 pm #380803TaffTaxMemberIt really is windy now!!! This morning I had my audit exam, then had to rush home, throw on a suit and makeup and had an interview. On my way home I saw a car with a tree on it. Now I'm just going to eat, drink wine and do nothing, with or without power. Tomorrow BEC.
October 29, 2012 at 10:35 pm #380804rsoxtimMemberIt's gotten really bad outside the past few hours. Gusts up to 55-60 mph I'd say. I'm in Northern VA. I just hope I don't lose power. Got to study!

A - April 2013October 29, 2012 at 10:50 pm #380805JDubb416ParticipantBosox – I am in the DC area and was supposed to have my test today at 12:30. I noticed last night every test center in the area but mine was closed, so I started calling the center first thing this morning and no one ever answered. After being on hold for 2 hours with the prometric national line, I finally got in touch with a person who said that they had no update from my center but because everything in the area – i mean everything – school, goverment, metro, my own office, etc – was closed that my center probably was closed, too, and to just not go to my test and call promteric later in the week to resched. low and behold, at about 2pm they FINALLY updated my center to closed status on their site and I got a phone call at 5:45 – more than 5 hours after my scheduled test start!!! – that my test was cancelled. Good thing I didn't drive all the way down there for nothing!!!!!! Now I have to fight with the thousands of other people reshceduling for a spot before the window closes. Ugh.
Here's the list of closed centers, but based on my above story they obviously don't keep it updated!! https://www.prometric.com/en-us/Pages/sitestatus.aspx

It's called a Hurricane because it's a bad a$$ storm! Wind and water can do some serious damage. Everyone needs to stay safe and take any and ALL necessary precautions. If you are on the east side of the storm, you are actually on the worst side of the storm. All of those “feeder bands” bring some bad stuff of their own, such as tornado's and hail, not to mention the storm surge. Keep your curtains closed if you aren't in a position to put plywood up. We keep a stack of it just for hurricane's. You probably can't do that in a 3rd or 4th floor apartment. My advice is to get some blankets to put over the windows until it's gone. They won't keep the rain out but they will stop some of the broken glass from hurting someone. If you still have power and internet, go to https://www.wunderground.com/ They have a map called the Wundermap that gives a much better picture of what is going on and gives you a lot more information. I understand how hard it is to concentrate on an exam with this going on in your front yard. My heart goes out to y'all.
October 30, 2012 at 2:25 am #380807WantToBeDoneMemberI'm right in midtown Manhattan and I have never seen anything like this. The entire Financial District is flooded. I work down there and I have no idea how I will be able to get there for several weeks. The lower Manhattan subways are all flooded, and the ocean water made it's way into the subways through the grates on the street. The water is 6-8 feet high and cars are floating down Wall Street.
I have friends in midtown and they are saying they are saying the water is waist high outside. This is not even right by the rivers, it is on 2nd avenue. The MTA even moved all their construction from the 2nd avenue subways because the East River made its way over there.
Sandy was very hyped up and it seems we still underestimated her. Check out the pictures on Twitter. It's terrible.
Stay strong, NYC.

REG - 75October 30, 2012 at 2:34 am #380808AnonymousInactive@Tootsie I am in Boston as well and sat for REG today. By Friday I don't think anyone for sure knew if it was going to hit us hard up here, but by Saturday I started calling the Prometric center to see if they were closing the site. Couldn't reach someone on the phones and the Prometric site didn't list it as closed either. It's a state of emergency, you'd think they'd close!
Since I had an 830am slot I ended up just going through my normal pre-test routine and braced the winds and light rain to get to the center. Turns out they were giving people the option to reschedule if they called in and were concerned about their safety (which is important!). Probably still valid for tomorrow.
I'm just happy they didn't lose power when I was taking the exam and *hopefully* those that need my exam will receive it in good order — or just pass us all for effort! 🙂
October 30, 2012 at 4:44 pm #380809wonny1108MemberWhat do I have to do after they canceled my exam? They said I'll get an email regarding rescheduling but I don't want to waste my time just sitting here and waiting for their response! what to do??

October 30, 2012 at 6:48 pm #380812JDubb416Participant@wonny – the national Prometric line said that I should call them back in 3-4 business days to reschedule. I never got an email from my center, either. Apparently bc of the weather they were having massive technical difficulties. Just make sure to call to reschedule – I think if you do it online they will charge you/make you get a new NTS, and then you have to file an appeal for a refund, and who knows how long that will take!

October 30, 2012 at 7:38 pm #380814wonny1108Member@JDubb416 – I called prometric and they told me to call NASBA to reset my eligibility. I called NASBA and this guy told me i need to email regarding this issue and so I did. I got an email reply saying that they are not responsible to reset my eligibility and need to contact the prometric to reset and reschedule. So i called the prometric again and all they are saying is i need to wait….So i guess the only thing I can to right now is to wait….
