Anyone preparing for it? I am in Boston and plan on getting some bottled water tonight. Hopefully it won’t be that bad here, maybe heavy rain and strong wind. I feel so alone! My husband is out of town until mid-November. I’m kinda scared. 🙁

Tootsie – is this your first Hurricane? I lived in FL from 2004-2007 and the first one is the scariest because you don't know what to expect – hunker down and you'll be fine. In addition to bottled water make sure you have batteries for your flashlight and sterno for cooking in case the power goes out (it may not). (Or buy food you don't have to cook) Hopefully Sandy will be a tropical storm by the time she gets to you (which is still a bad storm but with slower winds than a hurricane). Stay away from the windows and don't go outside if you don't have to! Charge your cell phone now and stay off it so the battery lasts in case you need it later. Be safe!!

    I passed in 2012!

    BEC - PASSED - I'M DONE!!!
    AUD - PASSED (finally!!)
REG - PASSED (Twice - lost credit first time)
    FAR - PASSED!

And one more thing – these storms tend to have “rain bands” which are fronts that come through and then there will be a period of calm and then another rain band will come through so even if it's calm outside, stay inside until the weather channel says the storm is passed because another band is likely to be on it's way.

    I passed in 2012!

    BEC - PASSED - I'M DONE!!!
    AUD - PASSED (finally!!)
REG - PASSED (Twice - lost credit first time)
    FAR - PASSED!

Hi Tootsie – I'm in Boston, too! I think it's not really going to be that bad here, but you should be prepared for power outages and possibly flooding if you have a basement. My biggest worry is that I won't be able to access my MCQs without power!! 🙂

We are in South Jersey, right outside of Philly. I hate the unknown of this and would much prefer a few feet of snow. And I HATE snow. My anxiety level is crazy high right now. I am just glad I had moved up BEC last month. I was supposed to take it on Tuesday. I am glad I don't have the anxiety of rescheduling a test on top of this hurricane.

I printed my MCqs just in case the Power goes down and Charged the Ipad. Should be ok. I don't know what the fuss is about – Storm Shmorm – AUD is worse. G'luck all and G-d be with you.

Hi Toots. I lived in florida for 22 years and am very fond with the standard hurricane and proper procedure. i would make sure that you have:

Clean water- Multiple gallons, you might need it for more than drinking (bathing and washing dishes)

Fill up your car and generator if you have one. And have a couple extra gallons of gas

UNPLUG critical electronics like computer or backup drives.

Find a safe place…bathroom closet that you and your family can hang out it during the storm.

Remember the storm has an eye and that if it goes directly over you there is still more to come.

    be patient.

DONT STEP IN STANDING WATER AFTER THE STORM…the water might be charged from downed lines or contaminated

if possible leave…nothing is more important than your life…not even this exam

oh and flashlights and batteries for a radio to keep track of the storm's progress…

@MeaDebitum – where do you live? They are still saying all things combined, the winds can be as strong as a category 3 or 4.
