Any other Sox fans out there? I met my husband in a Red Sox chat room and we were engaged at Fenway on July 10, 2004. What’s your baseball story?

My favorite memory was… well pretty much every time I go out and watch a game and kick back a few beers. When I actually play, horrible things happen.

My least favorite memory was when I was playing softball (is that close enough to be in this thread?) and I got a concussion.

I really just can't be trusted around any game that involves throwing or catching. I even managed to get a bloody nose in touch football before. 🙁

Spectating – Going to the 2002 All-Star Game and Home Run Derby. Such a great experience and of course the game ended in a TIE.

Actual Playing – Hitting a home run in Little League. To dead center, no cheapy home run. Haha. Or when playing catcher throwing 5 runners stealing attempting to steal second in a row, and not having them attempt steals the rest of the game. Or helping our pitchers out and framing a pitch that may have been a couple inches outside to get a strikeout.

Good OT, how's Bobby V working out for you, he interviewed for the Milwaukee job a couple of years ago and it's looking like a very shrewd move not to have him around in Beer City. Kidding in good fun, of course.

No special Fenway memories but this will be the first time ever I've gone to see the red sox twice in the same week WOOHOO!!!! (and yes, I realize we're not winning games but I am a fool for Fenway Park anyway!)

Hey mla, you know the best part about you going to see the Red Sox twice in the same week? The fact that you won't be studying! 🙂 Oh it feels so good!

@ASerdy I'm withholding judgment on Bobby V until we get a little deeper into the season. He needs some time to settle in. I think it was a big mistake to throw Francona under the bus – after all he led the team to 2 WS championships after a LONG drought. But what's done is done and hopefully Bobby will be a good fit. Maybe around the All Star break I'll have more of an opinion.

Speaking of all star games, I'm envious that you got to go to one although I agree, letting it end in a tie was LAME and it's what brought on the rule that whichever division wins the ASG gets home field advantage in the WS. I swear if I heard Joe Buck say “This time it COUNTS” one more time in 2003 I was going to find him and strangle him with his headset. lol.

Yeah they're not off to the greatest start. This may be what they call a “rebuilding year.”

My fondest memory is paying $10 for a beer, $40 for parking, $80 a ticket for bleachers, pissing in a trough, the traffic, the massholes, the annoyance of Neil Diamond, the pink hats, etc, etc, etc…..

The Fenway I remember is long dead. The people who run it now are money grubbing scumbags.

It's virtually the same price to fly to Baltimore and see an O's/Sox game down there then to see it at Fenway if your a local. Doesn't that say it all???

Dtom Fenway ticket prices are out of control I agree completely on that. I hate the unholy alliance with Ace tickets. Legal scalping is what that is.

Just giving you Boston fans some grief is all.

Everyone needs a break from studying once and a while, and baseball has always been a good release. I'm a part of the minority that enjoys a 1-0 pitchers dual, as opposed to 10-8 slugfest that leaves bullpens gassed for the next 2 weeks.

To those still studying, what section are you on? And what topic is giving you headaches? Governmental always gave me a case of the crazies.

my fondest memory of baseball is from about 10 years ago when the red sox nation was a bunch of aw shucks lovable losers and not a bunch of petulant braggarts that bogart media attention.

another fond memory came last night when i had to play a double header in 45 degree rain and drizzle for the adult league that i play in. nothing says “baseball is fun” like freezing in the mud.
