So. I took FAR on Sunday 10/20. This is my last exam so it wasn’t “on to the next one” this time (although it’ll probably be “re-study” starting soon). So for the last week I’ve had a taste of the non-studying life that I once knew (it’s fantastic btw). I pity-partied for about 12 hours post-exam but when Monday night rolled around, I quickly realized I needed something to do to fill my free time. Since Halloween is my favorite holiday, this ensued:

    https://tinyurl.com/n7rgzpg Monster spider!

It’s weird, the studying ceased but the feeling of NEEDING to be studying or “not wasting ANY time” continued. It was so strange not going home and hitting the books for a few hours. Same with my lunch breaks @ work last week (filled with trips to Home Depot).

Anyone else doing cool stuff for Halloween? Care to share your story of your first post-CPA project?

(if anyone is interested in various DIY Halloween projects, this forum is the BOMB! https://www.halloweenforum.com/forum.php)

I have a feeling, once I'm “done”, I'll actually miss studying. Not that I'm a masochist, but the fact that it's consumed so much of my life, and then will immediately disappear, I think I'll feel some kind of void.

Nbad, are you expecting your results on Nov 1? I've always been wary of taking my exam on the exact last day of the score cut-off window.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

I don't do a whole lot for Halloween. Mostly because my boyfriend is traveling so no reason to get dressed up or anything. BUT my cat is currently in a costume contest through our vet's facebook page. He is the only cat!! I dressed him up as a spider this year.

@Gatorbates – it feels very weird not to be studying anymore. It takes adjustment and a lot of effort(for me at least) to be social again.

CA CPA - All because of the journey listed below

Nice spider, nbad311! It is definitely an adjustment post-cpa exams. I spent a few weeks thinking I should have been studying, but it wears off eventually.

Holidays between October and June = basketball holidays for me.

Great games on Halloween this year: bulls-knicks, dubs-clips

That's what I do every Halloween lol

thanks @auslaf! it was fun to make! At first my husband was like “meh, another arts & crafts project” but when he saw me bust out the man tools, he was intrigued and helped with the whole thing!

@Gatorbates yes, hopefully my score is out on the 1st along with the rest. I took an audit exam on the last day of the window and it came out as proposed, no delays or anything. It was basically impossible though. Sometimes I wonder if they give super hard exams near the end of the testing blocks!

@littlenumberrobot good luck to your spider cat! Hopefully you win and win something awesome like credit towards a vet bill, ha!

Getting into a good study rhythm requires a lifestyle change, pretty much! Someone asked me how it was to be done with studying (for now) and I said, it's like being a caged bird and having someone prop open the cage door and telling you “you're free!” and I'm still just sitting in the cage like “ummmmm….. ? Is it real?” Hesitantly peeping my head out into the freedom!

I have no clue how you made that spider, but it is cool! I don't decorate for Halloween, Christmas is more my thing. We are going to a party so I made our costumes. Pretty easy though. I have a trash bag with pictures of Eminem all over it (I'm a bag of M&M's – cheesy, I know. Don't judge me! LOL) and my husband is going as Marilyn Manson.

I'm trying to keep myself occupied in my post-studying/waiting-to-see-if-I'm-really-post-studying void. I found a great way to spend my time, though, which can be quite as absorbing – house-buying. We're supposed to go apply for the loan today. 🙂 My goal is just to keep myself distracted until Nov 4 (non-NASBA state 🙁 ) when I'll know if I'm really done!!

However, for work, we are dressing up. 🙂 Our whole office has a theme, and there's a competition Halloween morning with the whole building (I'm in private accounting, so the accounting office is just a small portion of all the employees). Because my boss doesn't want our costume-ideas stolen, we're under strict orders to tell no one what we're dressing up as. 😉 But it should be fun. My outfit just arrived yesterday and my modification plans failed miserably, so I'm hoping that I can do better this evening (post-house-paperwork).
