I’m a licensed CPA with a job I adore as a finance manager at a small manufacturer. However I’ve always wanted to do taxes on the side as I remember my grandfather doing when I was a child. I’ve done family and friends taxes since I was 18 but thought one season at Jackson Hewitt would give me the confidence to actually charge people for my services.

Sitting in a closet sized cubicle in a busy Wal-Mart was not my idea of fun. JH does great training and I’m pleased with them but omg, Wal-Mart shoppers who have nothing to do with me or taxes are a drag. If I can survive 9 weeks of children banging on the cubicle, people who walk in thinking nobody is there, and the random comments of people walking past I can survive anything!

Bless your heart, very cruel punishment, first of all doing taxes for JH posses a challenge, but ok if you're just doing it on the side, but in Walmart? Walmart is not the place for taxes, ever. It might not be the place for children either, unless they can be ditched in the toy isle. But I agree if you can survive this, you can handle.anything,

Having to sit through any Twilight Movie is about as Tortuous as it can get. The many moments of awkward silence and bad plotlines is so mind numbing bad that reading the IRC is more entertaining.

Skynet I have a 16 year old daughter, and have lived through all things Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus. This still wins.

Did you end up having to do their whole program? I remember you were asking about it a little while ago. Glad to see that you decided to try it.

I did but it was well worth it imho, half was actual tax training half was more software and customer service oriented.

Yeah, the training is pretty good. I think it even helped me with REG. I scored higher on the personal tax stuff and I was fortunate enough that personal income tax is a heavy focus of the exam.
