Without getting political (don’t want to be shut down by Jeff) just wondering if I am the only furloughed federal employee out there or if there are others who are hiding in the forum….

    FAR - 8/31/13 - 88
    REG - 10/18/13 - 97
    BEC - 1/18/14 - 85
    AUD - 4/4/14 - 99

I think they announced today that the furloughed employees will receive any pay they would have missed out on this. So if that is true, good for you! What branch you in?

    FAR - 81
    REG - 81
    AUD - 82
    BEC - 81

    Ethics - Done
    State License Exam - Done

License - Licensed CPA in Utah

It seems that they will be voting on that soon….but who knows if it will pass. Retroactive pay has been the standard for all prior shutdowns, but things are crazy now so I am not holding out for it 🙂

Both my husband and I are IRS agents (I know, please don't hate)….so if we don't get back-pay for this we are in deeeeep trouble.

Either way, I'm trying to capitalize on my new free-time and hoping to push up my REG exam date by a month….gotta do something all day, right???

I've got no doubt they will approve the back pay, but that's small consolation to folks who live paycheck to paycheck. Hoping you're back to work this week!

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

State of California employees were furloughed in 2009, 2011, 2013. I had an extra day off per month and got a 5% paycut for 3 years so it sucked. But some agencies got a 15% pay cut (3 days off) and I can't even imagine how I'd pay my bills if this happened to me!

    Hope you can survive!

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

On November 6th I will pay the remaining balance of $3,000 on my mortgage – then I'm DEBT FREE. What a sense of power I gain over my own situation and a bank and/or employer loses over my situation. Woohoo!!

That's great…paying off the mortgage is a great accomplishment. It's all about doing what you want to do when you want to do it…..
