I have two vehicles – Acura RL (luxury sporty sedan) and Volvo S60 2.5T (sport sedan). I’m a car enthusiast and plan to be fixing people’s cars as a hobby in exchange for only home-cooked food.

I can’t ride bikes so I’m looking to get a third vehicle.

I would like to get a used sports car that’s both powerful and comfortable, just for weekend rides, going to the gym, off-road, etc. Any ideas? PS: both my cars are pretty powerful but I’m looking for that traditional full blown sports car.

I really don't know anything about them. But if they have the reliability of their standard lineup you will be fine. My buddy has a 1997 ES300 that is his daily and a 2007 ES 330 for weekend lol.

Thanks for your input, Euroaddict. I have read good reviews on them and I am kinda assuming they will live up to the Toyota brand.

Depending on your budget, a C6 Z06 is a heck of a lot of car in stock form.

I saw someone mention a roided out 4th Gen Firebird/Camaro… having owned a Heads/Cam/D1SC Procharged LS1 Trans Am (with all the bells and whistles, suspension, twin disk clutch, drag radials, etc etc etc) they can be a LOT of fun, but being so heavily modified it seemed like there was always a little something that needed attention.

With how busy I am, next “fun” vehicle is going to be something that requires less modification to reach the high horsepower.

BMW M3's (E92 generation) are in the $40-50k range with decent mileage. You should be able to afford it given all of your certifications haha.

Best handling sports car in its class with a V8 that revs to stratospheric heights and makes all the right noises that'll make your inner 10 year old scream with glee.

Well if you would spend 50k then get a 2013 GT500. As far as buying a used BMW M or Audi S…..better be ready to take out a second mortgage for repairs and maintenance down the road.

I'm a mustang enthusiast. I just bought my second one. I previously drove a 2000 mustang V6. I bought it in high school 10 years ago. So easy to repair and cheap and fun. I didn't have to do anything other than oil changes and I did have to replace the clutch at around 110K but I live in Atlanta I used the clutch a ton in traffic. Also had to do water pump. I had Roush cold air intake with headers and dual custom tuned exhaust. It was awesome. I put a 2000 cobra R hood on it. Huge cowl. It was so much fun for a 215 hp car.

I just bought a 2013 mustang convertible. V6 again because I drive it everyday and they have the v6's up to 315 and 285 Ft/lbs torque now as opposed to 195 HP on my older V6. It's plenty for my purposes. I did get the premium package. They slapped a brace under the hood to improve handling and body roll. It's a ton of fun and it turns some heads. Shaker system is fun too. Great sound.

Anyways. I can't recommend a mustang enough. HP per $ is unbeatable and they make these things to be customized. Its perfect for what you want. Join the mustang club.

Agree with Joe on the Audi/Porsche route.

Forget about aftermarket parts and definitely forget being able to work on it yourself. My best buddies sister just bought a used 2008 Audi A4 and one month later the cylinders are misfiring and a cracked head gasket. $4,000 in engine repair. Nothing but a big mistake. I tried to warn him. Sure….you CAN get an Audi for 15k but you'll make up the value in repairs. Didn't take long.

@marqzho – lol. I guess I'll report my hobby income and withhold some for the IRS 😉

@EuroAddict – at one time I was even looking at the Audi R8 which can be over $80k, gently used. I don't care about brand new cars because I've seen 12+ year old cars running like new. I would put myself in the $20 – $60k price range for something decent.

@acamp – Whoa. .The C6 Z06 is a mean looking machine. I'm kinda with you also, with the idea that I probably won't wanna spend too much time in maintenance though I think I would enjoy working on cars.

@MaLoTu – Lexus(es) are good for luxury. So for family SUVs, Denali, Jeep SRT…. maybe a Lexus.. hmmm.

@Joe C. – haha. No BMWs for me. I've heard too many negative reviews for repair costs, even from mechanics. My ex-wife would give her first born for that 2013 Shelby but I don't know why I'm a Camaro guy lol.

@NotAnother74 – haha. Thanks for the invite to the Mustang club. I did a lot of comparison between Mustangs and Camaros and I fell in love with Bumble Bee, while my ex-wife would die for a Mustang. Maybe when I really make it big I'll get her the 2013 Mustang in blue. My ex modified her Mustang to make the exhaust louder. I have to say, sometimes I'm a little jealous of the look of the Mustang lol. For Audi, I'm thinking of the A8 or R8, but as new as possible.

Keep saving till an Audi RS7 get's in your range. That with a chip will eat majority of the cars on the road. Check out the youtube videos.

Late next year Audi is bringing over the RS3. That will be a fun car. An RS5 is in your current rage.
