It was suggested that I start an Off-Topic thread so that people didn’t need to start a new thread every time.

To answer Jeff's question… I think I'll take a break from studying for now. Time to start working on that thing that Jeff already has…called a family 😉

Although, I have to say passing a CPA exam is much easier than finding the right guy…..sigh.

I'll feel accomplished if I can achieve at least 1/3 of what Jeff's wife did 😉

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

Anyone have suggestions about getting the CFE designation? I am waiting on my last test score for FAR, and originally my goal was to get my CFE after that — anyone have thoughts on how valuable that designation would be?

It's hard for me to want to get back into studying again, especially since I have been enjoying this ‘having a life' deal. 🙂

While I was taking the exams, I had SO many things on my plate. Work, my family, my mom's illness and passing, my lengthy illness, surgery and recovery and my father's illness. I received my final passing score on December 8 and my father passed away on December 29. Now I am going through a period where I don't have anything to do, nothing to study and no one to take care of and I feel…I dunno…blah…unchallenged…not needed. Part of me wants to take the CMA just so I have something to work towards…the other part thinks I'm crazy and hopes it will pass.

Anyone else go through something like this? The “lull” after the accomplishment?

I have a 2014 non professional goal that I'm working on. Years ago I said I wanted to run the NYC Marathon by 35…welp, I will turn 35 in December. Now that I finished the exam, I realized I had about 10 months to make it happen so I made the commitment. I havent been a runner for 15+ years and starting from scratch. I'm running with and raising funds for a charity to give my run even more purpose than just meeting a personal goal.

Some days I wonder what I've gotten myself into lol

    AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
    BEC - 79 - Pass
    FAR - 70,82 - Pass

@BaxterCPA: Yeah, I know what you mean…..but at the same time, there are other things in life you can enjoy…. I, for instance, need to work on my cooking skills (or lack of thereof) and I need to get in shape – something I haven't done until now, since I had a perfect excuse! 😉 And now I can finally read all the books I wanted to read – for pleasure!!! Not *having to do* anything feels pretty awesome! I haven't felt this way for years!

All the CMA, CIA, etc. exams cost more money and I don't see any ROI in my case, so what would be the point? Maybe later….in 10 years or so 🙂 But now it's time to concentrate on other things….and finally ENJOY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry to hear about your father. It must have been hard for you 🙁

And by the way….I don't really feel the accomplishment as much, to be honest….still waiting for my license, but the additional 3 letters after my name won't really change my life that much….other than I can finally stop worring about the CPA exam! Now I'll have to worry about the license fees and CPE, ha!

ToughKitty: Same here! I have a busy full time job and I am taking two classes this semester in my masters program. Those classes just started yesterday. That should help a lot! YES… I am going to start a new gym routine also. I think I was a little shocked at the drastic change in my free time after Dad went to Heaven. Of course I came home from the funeral in Georgia with the flu and pleurisy so that was fun too!!! I think I actually feel guilty for having free time and I have to get over that ASAP.

Thank you for the kind words about Dad. It has been hard! The last cognizant conversation we had, the last words he said to me, he put his hand in my hair and said “I am so proud of you!” I waited my whole life for that and it was worth it!
